What comes standard in Lucid Dreaming

In reading various accounts of lucid dreaming, it has occured to me that what I have taken as standard in my lucid dreams from day one, may not be standard for other people. I'm a relative novice with only about 20 lucid dreams under my belt in the last four months, but I almost always fly. It is usually the first thing I do when I am lucid. The other thing is that it has never occured to me to open doors or windows to go through them. I just naturally walk right through them without bothering to open them. This isn't something I think about, I just take it for granted when I am lucid. I'm just wondering if other poeple find these types of thing standard, or if they have other lucid dream affects that they take for granted.

It is most likely relative to the culture and the individual. Symbolism transforms across cultures and individuals so there is broad room for variance. Of course, there are archtypal similarities.

I would not necessarily say there are standards to lucid dreaming. You did inspire me to commit a research proposal to determine culture correlations between dream symbolism, however.

I can tell you this; in my years of dream interpretation, the most common symbols at the onset of lucid dreaming are:
      - Flying
      - Sex
      - Killing
      - Becoming lucid in response to danger

How these come about is likely to differ.

      What do you think..?

For me, and I doubt that these are all of them, just a few, there are some things I have noticed-
~Lucid out of a random spurt of logic/curiosity [and by random, it is quite random indeed]
~Whatever I whim I do [since most of the time I forget my lucid tasks]
      ~I am almost always omnipotent

Sorry, random vent from having to flag spam just now.

Anyway... I use control depending on how stable my dream feels. If it's unstable then I don't use magic or fly because it might cause it to fade away. The reason that you have these skills right off the bat is because you've read about them here at dreamviews.
