      Was it lucid?

I had a dream a while back, befor I had heard of AP or LD. I was standing at the foot of my bed, watching myself sleep. I knew I was dreaming, and I had a reflection in the window that was above my bed.

Well... was it lucid, or just a dream?

Sorry, this is all pretty new to me. Bare with the n00b questions if you will

you were aware you were dreaming, so it was definitely a lucid dream

What we see is but an illusion.

I agree with Magus.. you were lucid dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is merely the "awareness" that you are dreaming WHILE you're dreaming.

Lucidity also has nothing to do with "control" (meaning that you can be in a lucid dream.. but still not be able to affect any changes).

If you ever say (or think) to yourself, "I'm dreaming" and, once having said/thought that, BELIEVE it to be true? If so, then you were definately lucid.

Next time, if you're in doubt, do a "reality check". The reality check that has never failed me is the "plug my nose and see if I can breathe" reality check. It never hurts to do your favorite reality check a couple of times or even do two different ones.. just to really convince yourself!

Yes... I agree with Clairity and Magus. If you are aware that you are dreaming then you are lucid. to Dreamviews.

Thanks... what about when you think you're dreaming. Like you keep telling yourself "I've got to be dreaming". Last night, I had a perfectly... well odd, but ordinary dream, with no pink elephants in sight, but I kept thinking I was dreaming.

When I woke up, I remember the tip in one of the forums that says the question if your dreaming while your awake, and I dunno why but it just seemed funny. Nice way to wake up, thanks, lol.

IMO.. just "thinking" that you're dreaming does not necessarily qualify as being lucid.. being lucid is the KNOWING/BELIEF that you are dreaming.
