      My subconscience doesn't like me.

OKAY. Every night, I have at least one dream that is set in a school. So, I tell myself before I fall asleep that I will know it's a dream if it's in a school.. and it has yet to work!! Anyone else have this problem?

Foreward: Don't listen to anything I say, I'm not a knowledgable person.

School, as I believe you have found, is [one of] your dreamsign[s]. You can use this as a key into lucidity inside of your dreams. Whenever you enter school, think about school, or anything to do with school, think about lucidity and perform a reality check. Eventually, this should/could become second-nature to you. Some people are constantly aware of their surroundings and do pseudo-reality checks in their minds. You have to build a base on this, and make it a habitual ritual. If you sometimes forget about doing a reality check, then you should keep trying. It may not be working frankly because in your dream you "forget" to do a reality check, or just not recognize school as your dreamsign. In time, it should come. Keep trying and good luck!

I dream about school alot aswell, especially when I'm off for awhile. I tried setting it up as a dreamsign in self-hypnosis and it seemed to work. As far as your sub-concious not liking you, I doubt it. Mine had a period where it disliked the idea of me LDing and it didn't prevent me from noticing dreamsigns, that was out of its control. No, it made the nearest dream character either attack or scare me into non-lucidity.

      Thanks for the quick replies!

How do you go about doing self-hypnosis? Is it something you do during the day?

You can do self-hypnosis any time. I do it regularly before bed. Basically you count to 100 while breathing in and out deeply to the numbers (ex. In-1 Out-2.) Once you're at 100 say to yourself that a warmth and heaviness is moving up your body from your toes to your head and name each body part from the toe to the head. Then say weights are being tied to your body and name where the weights are by naming the parts from toe to head again. Now say that there is a new heaviness twice as great as the one before moving down from your head and name off each body part from the head to the toes. From there say that bags of sand twice as heavy as the weights are being tied to and then name the parts of the body from head to toe. Once all of that's over with you should probably try visualizing that you're in front of a chalk board with the alphabet and numbers 0 through 9 on it, then erase each letter then each number one by one. Now say that you will count to five and be twice as relaxed as you are now then count to five. Then say you're going to count to ten and be triple the level of relaxation you're at now. This is where you would plant the suggestion like, "From now on whenever I'm at school I'll check to see if I'm dreaming." Then just bring yourself out (you don't have to count yourself out you can just move but I think counting down from ten saying that at one you will be fully aware again is more effective.) If you want a list of myths about hypnosis feel free to ask, I love to abolish the beliefs of the uninformed. Oh and feel free to count as long as you want or multiply your relaxation as long as you want, this is just a guide line. Hope I got everything there. Tell me how it works!

Maybe you should narrow it down some. Like instead of thinking of school, maybe think of opening a book or sitting at a desk.

You should flood your thoughts with the most exciting things you can think of. If you do it long enough it'll become like this little world created by your mind. And yes you can go to it . . . IN YOUR DREAMS!

If I flood my thoughts with the most exciting things I won't be able to fall asleep! LOL

I think that's why it takes me an hour or more to fall asleep.. I keep visualizing all these things and forget to sleep. I do eventually, but I think that's cuz exhaustion sets in.

Sorry 'bout your friend, Jin. Bribe him back.

Alric, I'll try that.. see what happens.

Okay, then think about semi-exciting things. Like dance music CD's that hypnotize you and lead you and a bunch of other kids to a big rave party on a long bridge with strobe lights, black lights, fog mist and loud party music. Then dance until you collapse. (You or the bridge, either one will work.)

Oh and about my imaginary friend, Zoe, he's in another world. I don't know if I can find him to bribe him back.

You must find THE ONE and send him on a mission to find Zoe, for we shall not have this!

Hey that's actually a good idea about the party. It can be on the London bridge. So it does fall down.

I was thinking Spaceland Heights. With all of my friends from Metropoworld. Puff, Niel, Maxi, Conker, Kazi, Ling, Miharu, Holly, Coco, Mo, Cosmo, and Kyra. And my friends from Ecco. Niko, Flip, Solara, and Huck. And my friends from Malook's Rendezvous. Malook, Clyde, Cadet, Kamikilik, James Carter, Shorty, that one kung fu guy that works at Spanky J's Space Burgers, the ninja raccoons with power tools, Octavio, and Chico Rodriguez Mangato Cervantes Arguillo de Mandalez. It'll be great. And Zoe, too if I can find him.

      I have similar problem.

A lot of my dreams take place in high school, and, recently, even in

      grammar school.

Very strange. Good thing is: sometimes I become lucid, or something can

      trigger me to become lucid.

Bad thing : In a lot of "school" lucid dreams DCs oppose me becoming

lucid. So a lot of summoning tricks dont work, and I spend most of the

dream "proving" that it's a dream

Also school LDs often turn out violent

      I will try LDGuy's technique

LOL, smoovd. I've had more or less normal dreams too. I mean, weird situations would happen, but I wouldn't see monsters or anything like that. Just this morning I had a dream that my cat was genetically engineered, kind of like the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park, but something went terribly wrong.. so every hour or so, he would multiply, and the 'clones' would age quickly and die. So, it's a strange situation.. but it's still normal.

It fits in the topic because Scwiggle couldn't plant school as a dreamsign, I said self-hypnosis works for me, and she asked me how you go about it.

I tried to loosely follow this method, and it worked really well.

I mean the state was so relaxing, I almost drifted into a dream on a few occasions! And it was just as I hit the bed. Wander what will happen if I try it with WBTB method

Okay. Tonight I'm trying that self-hypnosis thing.

I gave my subconscious a lecture this morning.

I woke up at 6AM, remembering a dream about school. I told myself that next time I had a dream about school, I'd recognize it as a dreamsign. Tried to do a WILD, but eventually got distracted and decided to just go back to sleep regularly.

And I went right back into the school dream, right where I left off!
Did I go, "Ah, won't fool me this time!" ?? No. I didn't.

I'm just about ready to disown that part of my brain.

      But first I'll try self-hypnosis.

Ev- Thanks for... er... thanking me .
Scwiggle- Yeah, 'tis a good thing you didn't disown it . You know the subconcious handles most activities of the brain. Kind of like: we say jump the subconcious say you nerves do this you nerves do this et cetera et cetera.

As mentioned in that other thread, I used this with the WB2B and WILD... worked great!
I supplemented it after the steps with a few other tricks though, including the floating on a raft thing, and running my dream hands long rough surfaces, to get into it properly.
And taking off those 2 extra blankets that were so heavy...

So, Yeah, Ev... it worked for me

Refresh my memory, is WBTB just waking up after every dream and falling back asleep? Kind of like a MILD?

No, WBTB is going asleep for around five hours (aiming to wake up in REM or right before it) and staying awake for about half an hour. After this you go back to bed and try to WILD this being one of the two methods of prompting WILD.
