Swimming and lucid dreaming

The other night I was having a dream, and I was standing on the edge of this bridge (over water) looking out over some buildings. I though to myself im going to go there in my next lucid dream. Anyways as I dove off the bridge I realized it was a dream and became lucid. I plunged into the water and looked up, I couldnt see the surface. So I though well, I have breathed underwater before in dreams so ill just take a breath.. As I took a deep breath I felt the water rush into my lungs like i real life, and had to wake my self up because I couldn't breath. Has this happend to anyone else? Im not sure why it seemed like I couldn't breath does anyone know lol? Thanks

You were probably experiencing Sleep Apnea. The water in lungs effect probably acted as a substitute for it in the dream
