false awakening and not being able to move

i posted a thread about this a long time ago but i still get these all the time. i'll find myself in bed, nosepinch, find out im dreaming, and then despite my greatest efforts my body refuses to move, like it's paralyzed.

anyway, some things i've tried when it happens, which sometimes work but sometimes dont:

      roll out of bed
summon a girl, then no need to move
roll over and do a pushup-propel off the bed
attempt to sit up and get up (usually impossible)
take a "magic pill" that will fix the paralysis

oh and, it usually is dark too and if i manage to get out and move around for a while or try to get outside in the dream, it's hard to get the place lighted up

does anyone else get these, like, ALL THE TIME and have any ideas?

This has happened to me once. It really confused me for a while until I actually started remembering what happened. It was like you said- I had a false awakening, then realized I couldn't move. That's what I thought it was, anyway.
After I thought about it, I realized that what I had thought was a false awakening was actually a *real* awakening, only I was still under sleep paralysis, hence the inability to move. The only thing that worked for me was to try really, really hard to move something, or to try and yell.
This may be what happens to you, there's really no way to know though. It also may be you've only partially awoken under sleep paralysis, which would explain the lingering dreamlike powers.
Whichever you like, it's still pretty interesting.

but if i were under sleep paralysis, how could i RC nosepinch and find myself still breathing? unless, it's really a borderline thing where i'm technically awake and in sleep paralysis but actually still partially dreaming. the thing is i get these a LOT, at least a couple times a week.

Are you doing much exctasy or coke? You may not be getting enough sleep and deprevation kicks in.

I get these a lot, but they are nightmarish-related. Usually in my dream I will be in the same bed I am physically sleeping in and some external-invisible force attacks me. I immediately open my eyes to find myself paralyzed and hazy, still frightened and struggling to register what just happened.

Often I stay awake for a few minutes out of fear of returning to the same dream as I have had nights where it occurs back-to-back multiple times.

I had one of these the other night. I was hearing like a dog in my room (I don't have one) and couldn't move or even open my eyes to see what it was. Once I realized that I must be dreaming I was ok and flew through the ceiling

I've only had it happen once, but it was definately a false awakening. I was lying in bed and heard the door open and my hubby talking to me. I couldn't open my eyes, talk or even get up. All I could do was sort of lean off the bed a little bit. I could open my mouth, but no sound would come out.

i've had some of my most amazing dreams (in terms of control, vividness, and things going as i want, and being able to do stuff) as a result of false awakening and then actually being able to, yknow, GET OUT OF BED. so does anyone have some good ways of dealing with it when it happens? most of the time i just get the realization that "oh damn it happened again" and the dream will fade before i can solve it

I am a newbie to LD.

Last night, I had 5 or 6 consecutive false awakenings and by the 3rd false awakening I realized I was dreaming. It was strange. I felt strong vibrations all over my body and I could not move my body, but somehow I suddenly could move my body in my false awakenings, but when I tried to get out of bed, I fell into an endless hole behind my pillow into another false awakening. During the last false awakening, I was able to somewhat control the people in my dream. Mind you, I have heard and read about LDing, but I have never practiced LDing or dream logging.

Do you guys think this is close to LDing? Or did I just experience sleep paralysis? Or something? Anything? I'm lost...

      thanks!!
