I had this idea. I have asked another person about it too.
Wouldn't it be cool if we could do this. I am pretty sure we can using meditation to achieve lucidity. I am not sure if I was sleeping or accidentally meditating. I have a lucid dream (or day dream)... I thought I was awake the whole time outside of the dream. I was laying down however. When people meditate they ignore all things outside of thier mind. After doing that you can see and feel things with your imagination. I am going to work on this at least. First I need to learn how to meditate. But I believe it is very possible.
