      The "Falling" Sensation

      I know what it is, and when it happens, but...

      1 - What is really going on? I mean, why is it a falling sensation as opposed to, say, a "floating" sensation.

      2 - Has anyone experienced it both ways? I mean, sometimes I can recall feeling like I was falling with my back to the ground, and other times I have felt like I was literally skydiving.

      I ask because it came up again tonight. And it was really intense. Not that it is a bad thing, but I could feel my body picking up speed. I think I may have even began to sweat.

      If there is any more info about this phenomenon, please post.

      I've thought about this a lot before, and came up with two conclusions. One is that we feel a falling sensation because of the term "falling asleep" so while our mind is teetering over the edge of consciousness, we create a falling sensation because we expect it.


      Or it's reversed and the term falling asleep came from that feeling.

      Whenever I feel it, it's always like my bed vanished and I fall like a stone. I've never experienced it any other way.

      i feel this every night when i do my sleep peralysis routine (yes, i have a routine) and it feels sort of like sky diving on my back and i flip over back wards continualy. it only lasts for about ten seconds for me, usualy shorter.

      In my opinion, you should never focus on the falling sensation or any bodily sensation when trying to go WILD. Just let your body fall asleep and focus on the images in front of you. Of course, you stilll have to stay concious and that is the hard part.
