      Lucid Dream? Or not really?

Last night I had this dream:

      I was at a café-type place
There was a rock band playing
I was hanging out with some friends
These friends were not real friends, just dream friends
      The band was quite good
After they were finished I went to tell the singer that he did a good job
He said thanks and we started talking
Then he said something like “the fetus is made of finely woven fibers”
When he said this he was staring behind me
I looked behind me and there was a poster about the fetus
He said “sorry, just reading from the poster”
Then I responded by reading from the poster
I said something like “But, the fetus’s mind is still underdeveloped”
Then two women came over to us, and we started talking
      Then the floor collapsed
      We were floating through space
There was a cage, with the two women in it
The cage was the shape of a coffin, and had only enough space to carry the women
There was also a separator in between the two women
On one side was the woman who I was supposed to marry
On the other was the woman I was supposed to love
I was climbing on the cage, trying to decide which woman I would spend my life with
There was no gravity, so I was also at the same time trying to hold on and not fall off as we traveled
On the opposite side, doing the same thing was the singer from the band
Then we crashed into my porch
Suddenly the porch was very big and a ball floated in
On top of this ball was another woman
She had a dog, which was crimson red and had glowing red eyes; he also had a spiked collar
We were going to have a battle but then something happened and the scene replayed
      This happened another time
I thought to myself “wait a minute, this is just a dream”
I started to run away from the people
They were shouting at me, “No, Come back”
It felt as though they were yelling at me to return to sub-consciousness
I kept running away until I reached a secluded spot near the train tracks
I said to myself, “Ok, I think I’ll fly”
I tried to fly, but nothing happened
Then I said to myself, “What if I grow wings”
So I tried to grow wings but nothing happened
At this point I realized I needed to start with something very simple
I threw away my jacket and tried to make it re-grow itself
A bit grew near my collar but nothing else
      Then there was someone coming
I thought to myself, “I’ll make myself invisible”
And I hid anyway just in case it didn’t work
There was a woman jogging along the road
I ran out and hugged her, but I was actually invisible
Then I followed her to a cross-country meet
And I was chasing after all the people
I was running towards the finish line where they were gathered

Did I have a Lucid dream? If I did, why didn't anything work? If I didn't, what happened? Why did I just out of the blue realize I was dreaming without preforming a reality check or anything like that?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

You will know when you have a lucid dream. A lucid dream is after all a dream where you are aware that you are dreaming, while in the dream. So yes, you had a lucid dream. When you're new to lucid dreaming, it will take some practice to do all "the cool stuff". And not everyone need to do reality checks to get a lucid dream, it can happen spontaneously.

I realize that I realized that I was in a dream; but I didn't get the same feeling of realism and clarity that other members have described in their lucid dreams. I'm wondering if I was just dreaming that I was having a lucid dream, or if I became lucid but then lost it.

You were definately lucid, but probably not lucid enough to feel that, or the dream just wasn't that vivid.
