"Proving" lucid dreams

Those people that have lucid dreams since childhood treat it like it's very natural - count me to this group of people. I don't have any reason for making them better known because from my point of view it's nothing special, but don't get me wrong the vivid ones are still very special because they are a lot more than common lucid dreams.

I guess that only those people who learned about them recently have their reasons to making them better known. But then again why? Will it make them feel better about themselves?

This has nothing to do with people making themselves feel special. I have been lucid dreaming since a child, and still I tell people about them. Because of the vast amount of uses for lucid dreaming - I feel sharing this is a great thing to do, for the right people. Those truly interested in it, why not share it? If you think something is good, would you hold it back from someone because you think "It's not that special!"

And for these vivid ones (not sure what you mean here, they are all vivid usually) do you not think it is worth sharing with people; for them to experience the same?

Sharing it with people that are interested in it is surely a good thing for both parties. I hadn't met anyone with whom I'd share my lucid experiences and I don't feel bad for it. For me it's not important to share it and i respect those who feel otherwise. Ok, but proving is another matter. Why anyone experienced in LDing would want everyone to believe him? I don't see any point in that.

Even Sigmund Freud thought that people who have lucid dreams were just delusional. People don't understand things that they have not experienced. Now that we have scientific proof, you would think that people wouldn't be so ignorant, but sometimes they are.

I consider vivid ones as those with clarity equal to reality, or even exceeding it.

To deny S. Freud sentences, you must be like him.
To deny that ld are real, or to say they are real, you must get ld yourself.. ( often )
To tell oobe is fake, or illusion, or only in the mind, one must experience it himself ( often )...

Wow, thanks for all the replies! I think I'll just shut up about LDs because I'm not coing to convince this guy anyway... yet.. You're right in saying that you have to experience something first hand to judge it. I for instance beleive OBEs are just odd lucid dreams, and I have experienced quite a few so it's a rational judgement. On the other hand when I told my mother about hypnogogic voices if that's what they are, she thought I was schitzophrenic :P. And she actually has a psycology degree! Is it true lucid dreams are discussed in psycology at all, because I'm doing it next year but my mother never heard of it.

I had psychology this semester and even though we've had one of the best professionals in the country he didn't mention lucid dreams.

About the OBE's I've experienced something similar to it, but only just LD. Probably every OBE is LD in some way.

When my parents found and read my dream journal without my knowledge, I got in serious trouble because they thought lucid dreaming was something "evil". Not to mention my entries about my sexual dreams that they read too... But I no longer keep a dream journal.
