Fifth Time is the Charm! Awesome Lucid!

This is really long, so you don't have to read the whole thing (you can if you want to!). It would be helpful ,though, for more words of encouragement so I can continue to improve!

I finally got a great LD last night. My first four last no longer than 15-30 seconds, and were crazy. I had just about no control, including not being able to keep my eyes open. Plus my mind was jumping around like I was very distracted. My fifth one was awesome though! I have no clue how long it lasted, it but it felt like several hours! I know it wasn't that long, I estimate it was anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes. The way things flowed, though, it felt much longer.

I was in my room, and I think there was some kind of party downstairs. I don't remember how, but I became lucid and confirmed it with a RC. I started out sort of like my first four, but not as bad. I finally got the control to spin, and things were great from there! I got distracted a few times though, but I got a pretty good amount of things in.

First, I tried my first goal. This is to, in my dream, find a computer that displays my mind. There, I would type in "I will lucid dream every night that I choose, and completely remember it." I wasn't in full control, so I started writing on a piece of paper instead, and I wrote some other things than I wanted to. I can't remember what I wrote exactly, though. Hopefully thinking about it in my dream will help enough. If not, it is ok. I am willing to earn the ability to LD!

While still in my room, I tried flying across the room. I did, then I tried flying through the wall. It didn't work. I decided that was too advanced for now, and I will go in the back to try it out in the open. As I walked out of my room, I noticed that things weren't as vivid as real life, so I thought something like "Increase clarity" and "Be more vivid". My sight did increase dramatically, comparable to reality. My other senses though were still poor as usual. I will make sure that will improve with practice!

Sometime around here, may have been before or after what I just explained, I went to my bathroom (didn't want to, but didn't have full control), and thought of someone that I wanted in my dream. I started to go back to my room and thought the person would be there. None of my efforts could bring the person, but as I continue to practice I will get better!

I then continued down and into my backyard. There was some kind of tour going on, as if my house were some historical landmark. I ran and jumped to fly, floated up for a bit, but came back down. I ran forward and reached a steep hill, so I dove down, then soared up. This did the trick! I flew up, maybe 25 feet in the air. None of the DC's took notice, but that didn't matter. I flew! When I reached that 25 though. I didn't have much control. I felt like I was being stopped by something holding me around the waist. The flight was realistic, requiring a downward dive to get momentum to go up and foward. I want to improve this so I can go in any direction at any time, without having to worry about diving down to get motion. Even so, I am very happy with my progress!

I don't remember how, but I ended up on either a train or bus. I think the scene just randomly changed without me noticing right away. One of friends was in front of me. Just for laughs, I told him that this was a dream, just to see if this would make a connection for a shared ream. It didn't. He just gave me a blank, empty stare that let me know that he was just made by my mind. I turned, and to my right was Hagrid. I proceeded to try what I just tried with my friend (altough it would probably be hard to share a dream with a character from a book, but I didn't have full control). I noticed a scene change again, after it happened.

I didn't know exactly where it was, because things were becoming less vivid. It seemed like a shelter or room with stone brick walls, and there may have been a river flowing through. I don't exactly remember. Hagrid was still there, and a few of my relatives. One of them started to talk, and I forgot that I was dreaming, then woke up (I tried an RC to make sure it wasn't a FA).

I was so excited during the lucid, and I was doing the nose RC almost every 10 seconds to stay lucid! The LD turned out very well! I am pumped, and now I think it will be able to finally WILD, or at least DILD more often! I will strongly encourage others to practice and keep trying, too!

      Lucid Goals:
      1. Successfully WILD
      2. Increase lucidity, clarity, control, etc.
      3. Change locations/teleport

Great job! Your first seriously long lucid dream is always a great experience. One thing with control, I don't know if you've looked into passive control, but it increases realness of dreams exponentially.

Instead of having the mindset "I can fly because this is a dream"

Have the mindset "Oh, remember that book I read that told me how to fly"

Come up with a reason for why you can fly.

Billybob had a great tutorial on this,

Hope I could be of some help.

By the way I love freerice! It's such a great way to help out with hunger and to expand your vocabulary.

Keep trying and you will get it! It is good to do RC's. They really help once you make a habit of it, or at least start to become more aware of everything around you.

Some of my LD's came when I was actually taking a day off from trying, so maybe you can try that some day when you are too busy.

Also, I find that before going to sleep, autosuggestion such as thinking, "I will question everything I see" will help your chances of RCing in a dream. You really have to think of it with meaning though, and also try to think about it without thinking words.

These are just suggestions, and I am sure any way with effort will give results! You will get it eventually!
