International Association for the Study of Dreams - anyone a member?

Is anyone here a member of IASD - The International Association for the Study of Dreams?

I'm thinking about fronting the $100 to become a member but I'm this is a lot of money and I'm not sure if the benefits are worth it. For one thing I think all the conferences are on the other side of the USA, so I won't be able to make it.

Is anyone a member? Are the E-study groups active? Is the newsletter interesting? Is it worth $100?

FYI for anyone reading this, the member info is available here:

I absolutely would enjoy knowing I was funding scientific research into dreams. However, I think most of my money is going towards the costs of organizing the conference and paying for speakers, and then the newsletter.

      Hmmmmmmm.....

I've got an idea: wait until I have loads more money & then join?!

I don't like the look of this site, it looks a bit cheap and asthough all they would do is give conferences on Lucid Dreaming, it could be just a scam to make money, don't fall for these sort of things, they put flashy names on to make it look good when in reality its probably nothing good.

It's actually the most prominent dream study group in the world. I recently joined in September and plan on going to the 2008 conference in Montreal in July. I encourage anyone to join.

The IASD promotes Dream studies, not just Lucid Dream studies. Their conference last year (which I couldn't attend) did have some Lucid Dream sessions talking about the research and where it could lead. I attended the cyber conference that they held in september/october which was quite interesting.

In addition to being on the 'member' list you get discounts to events, the online scholarly journal "dreaming" and their magazine "Dreamtime"

Most of the leading members are teachers in the California schools associated with dreaming such as JFK

let me know if you need more info or to talk
