Good job on your lucid dream!
Welcome to the forums. Check out the
New Members - Quick Start Guide written by
Burns. There's some really useful information in there. Also, if you haven't already, you may want to check out some of the
tutorials. They might help you get a few more lucid dreams.
Other than that, try keeping a dream journal if you haven't already. It does wonders for dream recall and ability to become lucid in the long run.
Preaching aside... feel free to ask any questions and make yourself at home.
Welcome to DreamViews!!!

So, anyway, that's a lot of questions... I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities.
I remember reading something to do with REM sleep coming by earlier on afternoon naps, but I might be wrong about that. It's been a long time since I read the article. It might also have to do with the fact that you don't get in such a deep sleep as you do at night time.
I'm guessing you're trying to ask if it's going to be easier for you to recognize that you're dreaming. I'll answer this by giving a personal example:
After my first lucid dream, I thought "omg, I get it now! Now I know what dreams are like, and I'll for sure know right away the next time I'm dreaming." But that wasn't the case.
It might get a bit easier, but you'll probably still have to keep doing reality checks and different techniques for your lucid dreams to come by. Unless you're one of the lucky natural lucid dreamers...
You answered your own question. I would say the best thing for you to do next time, is to stay calm. Absorb the world, and not do anything until you feel like the dream is stable.
Some techniques for this are spinning, rubbing your hands together, or yelling out something like "increase lucidity" but that last one didn't seem to work for you. Basically, just try not to get too excited until your dream becomes stable.
Your lucid dream lasted a lot longer than most people's first lucid. For me, it took about 4 lucid dreams before they started lasting more than 1-second. haha.
