      Motivation: I have none

I got into lucid dreaming around two years ago. Then, I was very motivated about it and that's what probably got me into actually having lucid dreams.

Then I paused because of stresses from school. When I got back, I was motivated still. I had more LD's, recalled 2-4 dreams a night, etc.

And I paused again, this time from stresses from rodeo and livestock activities. Now those activities are done with. But after that pause of not doing anything dream or lucid related, my motivation has ceased. I only sometimes remember dreams if I specifically tell myself "I will recall dreams in the morning" and I've expectedly not had any LD's.

My question is purely out of curiosity and to get ideas. If anyone has lost their will or motivation at some point, what did you do to re-motivate yourself?

it is very hard to keep yourself motivated al the time,
      to keep doing RC's, etc.
But the one thing that will always keep me motivated is the fact that
the dreamworld can offer unimaginable things that the waking life cannot.
This fact alone keeps me motivated, good luck to you and finding a motivation.

"He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it."

I seem to have short phases where my motivation for LDing is on or off. Like for example, a week I may be really into LDing and get an LD every night, and then for a few weeks I'm not really into it at all. To get motivated again, I need to have an interesting dream or something.

Goal: Get the motivation to actually do WILDs and FILDs

Eh, same here. Lucid dreams don't excite me anymore. Since I came here and tried a lot of the techniques, I've had a hard time sleeping lately and I wake up to SP a few times over the week. I just want to sleep normally; lucid dreams aren't real, and as fun as they can be, I need to focus more on reality. I'll try to LD every now and then, but there really isn't anything to look forward to at this point. I'm sure once I have a few more lengthly ones, I'll get back into it, but for now, things just aren't fun anymore.

Besides, I have enough stress with school, family, friends, and the rest of my social life. I can't even try to do a RC, because I disgust myself when I think about doing an LD when I should be doing something in real life.

      I second that.

When I think of all the crazy and different things I could do in a lucid dream it motivates me to keep trying. Try daydreaming for a little while, thinking about all the things you could do, people you could meet and places you could explore in lucid dreams.

I think the best motivation is to have another awesome lucid dream. So don't burn yourself out by doing RC's and things when you're already unmotivated. Just tell yourself you want to lucid dream again every now and then, then if you have a great one it should be all the motivation you need.

That's pretty much what happened to me. I got sick of trying and getting no results so I took a break but still reminded myself before bed of what I wanted. Now I keep getting short LD's and they keep motivating me because they're just tastes of what could be.

I know when I lost motivation for my DJ I lost motivation for LDing.

I think just relaxing and not feeling like it's an obligation is the best you can do.

And remember, it's not really important; great maybe, but if you don't want to do it, don't.

I want to lucid dream, but I think a part of my lack of motivation comes from when I wish so hard I can a LD, and have one easily, even while going through stress that I tire myself out of the idea... if that makes any sense.

Thanks for all the responses! I appreciate them.

Even when I lose the motivation to lucid dream I still keep my off line dream journal updated. It's become a nearly OCDish type habit now. That way when I get back into the mood for some LDs at least my dream recall will still be decent and I won't have to start again from scratch.

I think it helps to have a meaningful goal.

Mikestankus, The waking world also offers experiences that the dream world does not, there is a difference. It's sharper reality.
