      Anything possible?

We have all heard people say it. Anything is possible in dreams, right?

I question this "fact". I am not denying it, but I also feel it has not been tested. Instead, I think it has simply been assumed.

So, in this topic we suggest things that we do not believe (or doubt) possible in dreams (specifically lucid dreams).

A couple off the top of my head:

Extreme time dilation: I don't mean adding a few more minutes/hours/days (though days would be impressive). I mean adding weeks/months/years. I think the mind can fool us into thinking we spent more time in a dream than we did. I think the longer the span the less likely we will be fooled, given that the dreamer is experienced in recalling dreams well.

Extreme pain: I have a friend that claims experiencing extreme pain in an NLD. I am not talking about great discomfort (something akin to my experience of drowning in an LD). I am talking about pain like being burned alive or getting an arm sawed off. I know that is a bit extreme and you are probably asking, "Why would I want to?" I never said the things I doubt capable in an LD are things you would desire though... >.>

If one tried to experience some form of extreme pain, I think the dream would probably end. Of course, that might be through expectation or desire alone, so it may be possible. The last time I was in an LD and should have experienced pretty intense pain, all I experienced was a little sting as a blade dug deep into my arm, followed by being ripped out.

Anyway, I think we should try to test the various doubts that may appear in this thread. Only then will we really be able to prove that anything is possible in a dream.

I've experimented with time dilation, but my longest dream has only seemed to be maybe a day at most. I'm working towards a week long dream, but its pretty hard

That's exactly what I am talking about =P

What can you supply me that actually shows how everything is possible?

I am not saying that everything isn't possible. The point of the topic is to put that idea to the test. If we find that anything we think of is possible, we have more to go by than simply the assumption that it is.

It appears this isn't a popular topic, probably because it challenges the hopeful model that we can do anything =\
