reason for wanting to be a lucid dreamer

i was going to put this in the form of a poll but i thought it would be to limited so im just going to ask:

What is your reason for wanting to be a lucid dreamer?

My personal reason is that i like to have control over a whole world of stange things. i also feel that lucid dreams give me a break from reality.

      I'm interested in your answers!

Yeah, i feel the same way. Except for a small twist. I wanna get to know my limits, what i wanna do, and why i have wierd dreams once in awile. It'd be cool to know a little bit more about the world around you.

I have a big imagination and i want to express it without limitations. Also for entertainment and Do you know how many hours in total you sleep for your whole life? i dont....but i know it's a LOT. so why not make most of that time instead of wasting it?

Since I was a kid, I've liked exploring different conscious states and modes of reality. Still do. It gives me a more well-rounded sense of the possibilities in the whole of reality.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I'll be honest. At first the only thing that drew me to it (like anything else in life) was the fact that I could spend my nights doing dirty things to any woman of my choosing.

Now, of course, I have a much more mature perspective on it. I see it as a way to discover more about yourself. Its the age-old experiment:

If man were stripped of his inhibitions, what would he be compelled to do?

I think that is at the core of self-discovery. If it was me and only me, no limits, what would I be? what/who would I do? what do I want? what do I see?

This is a topic that I could talk about for hours. Instead, I'm gonna change my signature pic. It is just too damn big, sorry y'all.
An idea is something you haven't fully considered.
A belief is merely a repetitive thought.
A conclusion is simply where you stopped thinking.

I do it to explore and see what that world is made fun. I've had about 19 lucid experiences and I've had very few dreams where I actually decided to have some fun. A fake world just amazes me immensely.

they only problem i have is sometimes i cant actually feel my dream body 100 percent, i kind of like see things from my eyes

I just want to live out my fantasies. We spend from 1/3 to 1/2 of our lives sleeping so why not get some fun out of it? I'm not very self confident in real life, so I also plan to use LDs for practicing social situations and the like.

I seem to be pretty outnumbered on this subject, but flying doesnt sound all that fun. I mean I'll try it but first I really just want to examine the surroundings and talk to DCs.

of course the sex dreams wont suck, but thats a different story

When I heard about lucid dreaming, I was hugely sceptical. How can this not be the best thing ever that everyone in the world does? Why the taboo?

The whole subject fascinates me. I keep trying to induce LDs so I can explore just what it is that we can do, so I can know myself even better.

I want to have fun. Do all sorts of "impossible" things. Get a diffent understanding of reality. Explore the differnt aspects of myself. Learn to use the mind as a creative tool. Dream Sharing. Use those, aproximate, 25 years of sleep to my advantage. To dream and enjoy waking life even more!

So much to do! So little time... (But hey! there is also time compression... so much time to fill!)

For me one of the reasons that I wanted to have LDs is because I want to have control over everything. You see I live my life and over half of it has been sleeping and work. Two things that I have to do, but dont nessasarily consider being in control of my life. So if I can at least be in control of my dreams I will feel that I am getting more out of my life. Another reason is simply the wierd and cool factor of the whole thing.

I'm just responding because I think "Fink Ployd" is such a great name!!

Well, I pursue it for two reasones:
1: it's just a rush! It's an exhilerating experience that leaves me in an upbeat mood, sometimes all day.
2: as an avenue for self discovery and self improvement. Although
I'm not very far along with this endeavor, it's part of my more serious long-range plans.

I just thought of another reason...

I have social anxiety disorder so I want to ask my subconscious for ways to calm down and relax during my anxiety attacks.

Because paintball costs $20 bucks a day + paint. And AR-33s are SOOO much funner. Other than that, I like to create my own fantasy worlds and storylines. My dreams are where I get inspiration for most of the characters, realms and plots in my books.

reasons why I'm a lucid dreamer:

      1) It's fun
      2) It's freedom
      3) It's power
      4) and it can be a gate to another plane

It opens up a neat intellectual state of conciousness that is really appealing. Being able to control your own world, that's photorealistic, just like in real life? Sounds pretty cool to me.

It's like living a 2nd, or 3rd life, or many more, each night and knowing your actions won't _really_ affect you in "real" life, so you can do whatever you want, letting your curiousity run wild. Plus, you can do things that would never be humanly possible, inside a lucid dream. The possibilities are practically endless.

Better yet..why NOT lucid dream? Its like the greatest drug you can get and its already inside you. No side-effects except the glowing feeling of happiness afterwards
