      What did I do wrong?

      Hi guys =)

So, I had my third attempt going WILD tonight... I went to bed at around 11pm, woke up at 3pm (not by alarm clock). Stood up a few minutes (WBTB technique), and lay on the bed again after going to the bathroom. Tried WILD for around 20 minutes, but fell asleep in the middle of the process.
When I woke up again in the morning (I guess it was around 10 o´clock, didn´t look at my watch) my body felt still really heavy, so I thought ´Okay, why not try it again?´
I closed my eyes, relaxed my body, didn´t think of anything and started feeling my body go numb. It started with my feet and hands, the feeling slowly crawling up my legs, to my thighs, up to my shoulders. I concentrated on my breath... inhale...exhale. Everything went fine.
Then I felt my hands and legs melt into the bed.
      I started counting "1... I am dreaming... 2... I am dreaming, etc."
When I reached "50" I saw a picture of a butcher in his butcher shop. He was at the shop counter with some kind of paper, writing down numbers. He looked at me (it was some kind of First-Person view...so I couldn´t see my body - only if I looked down at myself) and said something like "So 51, 52, 53 etc." Every number he wrote down and then looked me in the eye and courtly nodded.
At around "60" or "61" the scene changed and I saw myself standing in front of a door (again First-Person view). Suddenly the door opened and a dog suddenly sprang at me (I think it was a Golden Retriever) and I fell to the ground, the dog still on top of me...
My body was still really numb and I thought I was in SP, so I tried to roll out of my body into the dream with the dog.
I had my eyes closed, rolled around in my bed, and suddenly I was lying on the ground of my room.... awake...
So what did I do wrong?
Did I get the part with the "roll out of the body" wrong? Do I have to imagine my Dream Body rolling around, or should I roll my Physical Body (actively) around in the bed?
Was I even SP? (I mean, I lay there for around 2 hours, I´m sure...)
And if it´s of importance, I felt my body moving from the right to the left, and back again a few times, while I saw the butchersequence (but it didn´t move, of that I´m sure!)
Was that the falling/shifting feeling I read about in a few guides on this site here?
I felt that twice I think, but didn´t do anything. I just thought ´Don´t think about anything, just go with the flow´
Also the thing with letting myself fall down into the bed... I tried that but it didn´t really work... mhh... I imagined sandbacks attached with some kind of rope around my stomach, trying to pull me down -> not working for me, I guess. That´s why I went with the rolling...
And when do I have to do reality checks? It was not like I could control my body in the sequences I saw so that I can put a hand through a wall or other RCs (was that even the dream, or just some random images my mind created?)

So many questions... ^-^ Uhm, well... I also wear earplugs in the night, so that I don´t get disturbed and since it was in the morning when I tried WILDing I put some kind of bandage around my eyes, so that it´s dark enough. Don´t know if that hindered me having a lucid dream :-/
I also tried different techniques, like VILD (definitely not for me) and MILD (only tried it once, but I can´t fall asleep telling myself to remember the dream and then noticing it is a dream... just doesn´t work for me)

So, hope that someone can help me ^^ thx in advance

      Welcome to DV.

I don't think you really did anything wrong, it just takes a few tries. It was like my 10th WILD attempt before I got a system down.

So just keep trying and you'll get it.
      WILDs - 38
      MILD/DILDs - 44
      VILDs - 8
TILDs - 1 (Thirst Induced Lucid Dream, never going through that experience again...)
Total: 98 - So close to the big 100

      Thanks for the answer =)

      Tried it again this morning.
Relaxed, did everything like I described it in my last post, then my eyes began to flicker like hell and I could barely keep them open. Guess that I was entering the REM phase... But I didn´t see any images, nor did I find myself inside of a dream. Instead, my foot began to hurt like hell. At first I just ignored it, but after almost 20 minutes I couldn´t stand the pain anymore and stood up.
Is this pain and the "not seeing any images in REM phase" normal?

You might be too awake when your trying these. Maybe try less time during WBTB. That should help some, I think.

Maybe just get up after 5.5 hours or so, get a drink, and then go back to bed.
