      topic of conversation

I realize that many people, when first approached about Lucid dreaming may rebute it. And I am not the best at getting my point across. I am curious to know how you other forum members begin to discuss the topic of Lucid dreaming with someone you know. I don't go out preaching to people I do not know, but it seems like the people that I do try to explain Lucid dreaming to automatically disregaurd it. I think I throw in to much info in a short amount of time.
So how would you start a conversation with an aquantance that does not know of or ever heard of Lucid dreaming????

[quote]Me: I had this insane dream last night...
      Other: What was it about?
Me: Well, I knew I was dreaming and I flew and everything.
Other: Woah, I have those dreams every once in a while, they are so fun.
Me: Yeah they actually have a name. They are called "lucid dreams". There are ways to make yourself be able to have them at will. It's so fun.
      Other: Tell me more

That's the way I bring up most of my conversations. Some times I just say, "Yeah, the other night I had a lucid dream or the other week or something".

Often times it helps to start a conversation just on dreams in general, for example sharing one you had recently. Then you can possibly move onto the subject of dream control, and then lucidity, and then delve more deeply into LDing. It's okay if ppl don't want to believe you. Just don't try to force them to or they'll start looking at you strangely If the conversation turns into a personal attack, just let the converation go on its merry way.

Get the conversation to a point where you’re talking about psychology or dreaming then bridge from there. Feed them the information in small chunks and basically get them asking to hear more about LDing instead of you telling them. When they start asking questions about what its like and the methods used you know you have them hooked :-D

I guess it really depends on the people you know but if there becoming skeptical mention the scientific studies that have been carried out and such. In fact you will be surprised the amount of times you can convince someone something is true by dropping in some science and facts…

Ha, that's funny, I was just thinking of a good way to explain LDing to my friends.. because I tried a couple of days ago, and they couldn't grasp the idea of being conscious in a dream. And these are people who understand astral projection!!! lol Anyway, so now they call me "wake-girl".

Kind of disappointing, because I long for a friend who LDs! *eye twitches*

Thanks for the Ideas. I think that from what some of you have said that i have to throw a little at a time .(But there is so much you could teach them ) - anyway. I do try to get the conversation in a similar topic such as dreaming or just concious & subconcious.
Another problem I think is most of my friends are in there thirties, and are hard headed. If thay have not heard of it by now then it must be phoney.
      ----I will reach them somehow!

You could just try telling them about this website. Just tell them it's about dreams and related stuff.
