Listening to music in a dream

Last night during a vivid dream I listened to music on my iPod. The display was wonky as hell but the music sounded great (I listened to Bittersweet Symphony ) Just like it would in reality but better. For some reason that was the only song that was on my dream iPod though (lol).

Has anyone else ever tried listening to music within a dream? (Via mp3 player)?

i've always wanted to try it, but whenever i think of the song i want to listen to, it just starts playing out of nowhere, like my own personal soundtrack to my dream.

We are each our own personal god. Never is this more apparent than in our dreams.

That happned to me a couple weeks ago. I was in a car with a CD player, and a Red Hot Chili Peppers song was playing. The display was fine. It read the time. 2:06. But the song was wonky.

I nearly caused a car accident when I realised I could listen to music in my dream. My friend was driving me (a long way) home after a millennium party, very bad weather, neither of us had spoken for a while (sleepy, but companionable silence) when suddenly I remembered a dream I had the previous night, non-LD, but I listened to Radiohead's Creep in (what seemed like) full euphonic hi-fi. Anyway, I exclaimed in triumph and shocked my friend a little luckily no-one else near us on the road at the time!
I was particularly pleased because at the time I was contemplating getting rid of all my possessions, including my beloved and huge CD collection, in order to live a more ascetic life; I had been hoping I would still be able to enjoy music in my dreams. And I could; although to be honest I don't think it happens very often. But then I rarely get to decide to listen to music as I rarely have LDs ...the fact that the capability is there is good though.
      I'm probably wrong.

I did yesterday, but it didn't play the song that I wanted it to play. (Wanted it to play Plug in Baby from Muse, instead it played something else. I'm not sure what it was anymore, but it sounded like Muse too...)

Yeah, I'll hear songs that sound just like they would in real life. It's weird, because sometimes, their songs that I don't even listen to that much or at all. Like the other night when I heard a Zeppelin tune being played.

A few dreams ago I was in a car and the radio started playing "Daughter" by Pearl Jam. It was really clear and accurate from what I recall. When i heard it, I remembered (incorrectly, of course) that the song was about a man who recently lost his wife but loved her too much to bury her, so her corpse was just in the house for a while. I thought it was romantic, but now its kinda creepy hehe.

      Don't just listen...

Music sounds fantastic in dreams. I play a little guitar in RL, not very well mind you. When dreaming I play like a rock god! I've even wrote songs / composed in my dreams.

I suggest even if you don't play an instrument try playing one or even singing while dreaming.

      It ROCKS

I dream up music a lot. Last night, I dreamed I was listening to Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and then I sorta realized I was dreaming and thought "I better write down these lyrics." Then in an inbetweeny stage of sleep and being awake, I thought to myself "You idiot, you're listening to your headphones. You didn't make this music at all."

But I hadn't been listening to my headphones! I never do that, but somehow I convinced myself was and now I can't remember the lyrics or tunes.

Anyway, I love when I dream music. It always sounds so good!

      hehe

Well I've never experienced music in a dream from what I remember, but it would be fun to go to a concert in a dream, I plan on going to a Dragonforce or Nighwish concert sometime in a dream as I know they'll never come to New Zealand in real life.

Oh well, might actually sound better in a dream.

Usually sound plays out of no where, for no reason.
I had a non-lucid dream the other night that I was trying to play music on my ipod stereo, and I was using the screen of the ipod. Everything looked normal, and I distinctly remember scrolling through an accurate list of Breaking Benjamin songs. I don't remember if I ever got any of them to play, though, because then I got attacked by a wereleopard So I guess we have opposite problems

Just the other day, on a non-lucid, I was watching this guy from my favourite band singing and playing the coolest music on his piano. Then I realized it wasn't one of theirs, it was mine - I was making it up on the spot!
Of course, I couldn't remember it when I woke up!

      I'm no musician, btw.

I sometimes hear music out of nowhere in my dreams too. I try to remember the lyrics when I wake up and keep a notepad near the bed. I wrote down the lyrics from the last song I heard, but once awake and fully present they sounded so stupid!!!

The last couple of times I had lucid dreams, I had to somehow play some music. In the first one, I loaded up itunes on my computer, and the music sounded like something from www.micromusic.net

The second one involved turning on a car stereo. The music was some R'n'B song, which I don't remember the tune to.

Sometimes, I wake up with random lyrics in my head. The latest lyrics I remember go something like "How does it feel to be..... Rock Solid"

About 15 years ago, when I was in middle school, I had a dream I was hiking listening to a song my friend wrote on headphones. The song was amazing. I loved it!

When I woke up, I was awestruck by the fact that my mind made up this great song.

I play guitar, and it drove me crazy wanting to know how to play this song!

I dreamed they were shooting the video for Thriller, parts 2 & 3 and i dreamed up part of the music. It complimented the original well without intruding upon it.
