      Physical closeness to dreams

Hey, forgive me if someone has asked this question before, I'm new and a little frightened by the idea of searching fo something that might cover a question that I have that I doubt has an answer, but I am curious about nonetheless...

I got to thinking the other day, about when you have dreams that you recall, and came across an odd coincidence. As a young child, almost all of the dreams that I would remember were when I was in another's company, my parents or brother sleeping in the same room or bed. As I grew older, most dreams, and EVERY lucid dream I had always occured when I was sleeping over at a friend's, or vice versa; always someone was near me.

At some point, I can't remember exactly what year, I decided that I dreamed too much, because I was having trouble distinguishing dreams from reality, and overnight effectively stopped recalling dreams for several years, until someone was telling me of a dream they had had, and it turned into a group discussion, and I decided that I missed dreams, and I started to remember them again, though never as clearly as I used to. But still, again, when I remembered a dream, and had the occasional somewhat lucid one, it was ALWAYS IN THE COMPANY OF ANOTHER SLEEPER.

For the past couple weeks, I've remembered my dreams much more than usual, and I have never kept a dream journal, which I'm told help with recall. I suppose that was why I joined this forum. But, still I cannot not help but see the coincidence that In these past two weeks or so, I've been sleeping by my love as it were, on a fairly regular basis, if not every day then every other.

So, I suppose the question, now that I've rambled on much more than I initially intended to, is this:

Does anyone think that perhaps the presence of another dreamer in close proximity affects your own dreams?

I really am a newbie here, I imagine there's a million other things it could easily be that I don't know about, but I thought it might be a legitimate question. If someone sees this and I'm utterly off track, I'd love to hear what it might really be. I just thought this might be an okay way to introduce myself and answer a question.

Wow Im so glad you mentioned this, Negaigoto. I've also noticed this in the past.

I believe that because the other person is present, my[our] brains are semi-awake and aware of the presence. This means we sleep lighter, thus dreaming more. This could also be that when I sleep at other's houses, it's usually just lying around on the ground or a couch instead of a real bed.

Depending on your connection with the other person, your feelings would be different, resulting in different levels of dreaming. Just a thought.

      that makes a lotta sense...
Neg I do notice that a lot of times when I'm at a friends house or sleeping next to someone, I'll have a LD. It's happened to me before 'cause I would have a FA and wake up in my own bed, and realize that I'm not at my house so I would become lucid. Do you ever have false awakenings when at your lovers house? Maybe that's what's causing all your LD's when you're at other's homes. Just a thought

Yes! I'm not insane, it happens to other people too. o.O

That makes a sort of sense, Lewis... ^_^

lol, and yeah, Gold, shitloads of false awakenings, though half the time they're actual awakenings.

*grins at WerBurN* Hi, Gorgeous; was wondering when you'd find this. You got any idea as to why I keep dreaming so much when I crash at your place?

i would relate it to a)coincidence, b)perhaps it only seemed this way...a sorta psuedo-murphy's law in effect and/or c) perhaps because you were around other people that somehow affected your mindset (conciously or uncocniously) to make you more acclamated to remembering your dreams and being more aware of them

(i know you already read this, just posting it here aswell ^^)

*flicks water at WerBurN* If I'm insane, you're just as bad. But this is an old and known fact.
