I recomend checking out the "Tutorials" section, especially the two sticky posts at the top. They have some really good information.

Very few people can go directly from going to bed for the night to instant LDing. This is because normally the REM (or dream) phase of sleep doesn't start for about 90 min after you fall asleep. This first REM phase is pretty short, but gets longer each time the sleep cycle repeats during the night. This is WILDing or other LD techniques usually fail miseraby when done right at bed time.

If you simply want it to fall asleep and have your first (or almost first) dream be lucid, there are a lot of ways to do that. I suggest learning about how to DILD:

Another good method is DEILD. It gives you the oppertunity to have multiple LDs per night. You can also use it to return to your last dream lucidly. It takes some prep work, but once that is done it is really easy and requires no lost sleep. It is a great lazy technique. A tutorial on it is in the newsletter:
