When I started lucid dreaming I didn't know what was going on. I dreamed like everyone else, except, sometimes things just didn't seem quite right. Things got really crazy, and, in the back of my mind, something said "this defies the laws of physics?" I must be dreaming! WoW! you can do anything in your dreams! So I tried to fly. Why not? That's every kid's dream. I jumped and flapped my arms, but not much happened. Then I tried hopping and jumping with my arms extended [Superman style] and I managed to float. Forward progress was limited by my powers of concentration and I gave up. I later began to recognize clues. I started having dreams where I was in a semi-dark room and kept trying to turn on the lights, but nothing worked. I checked switches, unscrewed bulbs, etc. until I realized "this is a dream!' "WoW !" What shall I dream about? I immediately conjured up an image of one of my former girlfriends and attempted to have sex with her. It was really intense at first, the recognition, kindling of old memories, but , was never consummated. It just sort of faded out. "Linda! where are you going?" I later discovered my limitations. Sometimes things don't work by concentration alone. I try to fly, and just hover. There must be tricks I've yet to learn. |
