Question A question about lucid dreaming

      Hey guys, im new here

I have a question. Almost all of my dreams are lucid, im fully aware that im dreaming, but I cant control my dreams. I cant control what happens, I just walk through the dream being aware of it. I hate this because sometimes I get really scary dreams of people attacking me, or shooting or stabbing me and I feel the pain. And I think to myself "Why am I dreaming this? Its scary!". Sometimes in the dream I have to try and wake myself up. Why cant I control my dreams?

Start small with control. Try spawning something in your pocket or walking through a door telling yourself where the door goes. Trying to outright manipulate anything and everything in the dream is a bit hard most of the time. And check out this tutorial:

If I had a pocket! its very difficult and I don't understand it. I even try to fly sometimes by jumping up but it just wont work! Theres nothing I can control in the environment except for my thoughts, its like im put in these situations and I just have to live through them or something.

      Welcome!
I'm not that much of an expert but I know a little. As far as pain in dreams go, mostly if you expect it to hurt then it probably will. But that just what you think. If your lucid in your dream then you should remind yourself that it's just a dream and you can't get hurt. As for me with pain in dreams, the last I can remember was getting shot in the arm with an arrow, but that was in a non-lucid so at the moment I didn't know it wasn't real.
If you have some dream character bothering you or trying to hurt you, then pay no mind to them, like turn away from them and say "he's not there" or something along those lines. Just convince yourself that persons not there and hopefully they won't be. It's works for me. (Also works with making people appear)
For your actual question of why you can't control your dream, I know not much, maybe your just distracted by something else and can't focus? Just know that everything around you in your dream is created by your mind or you, so therefor you are the creator and should be able to control everything.
Hope I was somewhat of a help!

      Thanks for replying

I know what you mean, I expect it to hurt. If someone is coming at me about to stab me or something I close my eyes in fear and wait for the pain. Im not sure how to do anything else, even though its a dream its scary! Im often put in a closed room with someone hurting me, how do I escape that?

Why am I even dreaming these things? I don't normally think about getting hurt during the day, and why would I want to dream about something that scares me?

Everything to me is based on what you expect and what you convince yourself. So to escape you would have to convince yourself your not in a closet. Like close your eyes and just think I'm a wide open breezy meadow, feel the wind, forget about the closet, just convince your there and hopefully when you open your eyes your there.

An example (not the best) would be that I wanted to fall endlessly through the sky going through the clouds. But first I had to get up there, instead of flying up or something, I put my arms out fell backwards while thinking that I already was way up high. Sure enough I didn't hit ground I just kept falling.

For the real of why you dream about these things, I have no clue. Really I don't. I just know that we dream a couple of times each night every night even if we don't remember it. I just think our mind gets bored and has to come up with tons of things to do and happen in our dreams.

I'll try that. I also wonder how I can dream up all this crazy stuff that I would have never thought of in real life, its weird! Like these crazy, complex things.
