      I'm afraid of Lucid Dreaming

Yeah, I am. u-u They scare me. The reason is that whenever I see or hear something that causes me fear, I usually lay on my bed awake trying not to think about it, but I only think about it more.

So I fear that if I ever lucid again, I'll suddently remember then and they appear, and I'll probably forget about the power a person has while they are lucid.

Well shellyboof bishop isn't going to let you over-egg this pudding!

i guess it comes to the over-used expression "it's only a dream." you gotta remember that it's all in your head. it will only get to you if you let it. you can't let your feared thoughts control your dreamworld. maybe you could use lucids to destroy that fear. you gotta remember that your dreams may scare you, but your dreams can help you. use your fear to destroy itself.

be the controller of your mind. don't let your fears take that away from you.

      Plan

Write down all the things you think of going wrong in lucid dreams that frightens you. Then plan out what you'd do if that happens until you're confident that you have a solution for everything, even if it's something as simple as looking the other way, verbal commands, mind-controlling your dream-enemies, freezing time until you can calm things down and assess the situation, finding out your way to control things in LDs, etc.

      Good luck.

RELAX!! its natural, and can be overcome by your mind

i no how scary dreams can be, i no the fear you can have, believe me i no, but the main thing is to realize as you go into the dream that, HEY THIS IS MY DREAM, f+++ anything else that tires to invade MY MIND, YOU HAVE TO KNOW ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, or if it does, laugh your head off at whatever form your nightmare takes, or stand up to it, in no its hard but I've done it and often had emotional experiences afterwards like hugging my captor, it in YOUR MIND, YOU HAVE THE POWER MY FRIEND, worry is the main cause, as soon as the images fly into your mind slash them literally in half in your minds eye and laugh untl it goes away, its all on you man!! you can do it!!! WE ALL HAVE AT ONE STATGE!!

In short overwhelm your fear and do not let it overwhelm you.
      You just scare yourself

You could say, in a crazy kind of way: Your nightmares are just as afraid of you as you are of them ^^

Oh, I have the same problem. I sometimes worry that if I think of something in my dream that is unnerving to me (ie my mental nemesis, the Banded Eye - an eyeball in which the iris is surrounded by bands of color). Don't worry. You're not alone.

I agree with the others. They're good ways to get over these.

Oh that's just some great motivation. Helping people get over their fears is better than just telling them to man the **** up. The guys has fears, I think we all did when we first entered Sleep Paralysis.

you do realize that this fear will not let you have another lucid dream, I mean ever. That's unless you put your head together. you have created this fear and now you have to destroy it by facing it in your dreams.. That's my only advice.

The best thing to do is just to face your fears, and remember that everything in your dream is nothing.....it's just a dream. Nothing in them can hurt you.

That's the best advice I can give you.

ITheres only one thing that would truly scare me in my dream. (that I know of. >_>) And it's Freedy Kruegar. Ironic, isn't it. A demon man who walks into dreams and kills people. My fear of him has even gone beyond dreams. I don't even liek to clsoe my eyes, becasue I see him. D:

Freddy isn't really scary. He can't do shit in real life so he invades your dreams. And it's YOUR dream, so you have so much more power than him.

I would advise an epic showdown as soon as possible.

If he gets up in your face then just melt it off. Or make it turn into an amusing face.

I wouldn't advise that. You don't want to be getting attracted to Freddy now.

I suggest you watch the simpsons parody of Freddy Kreugar, it's hilarious, and may help overcome your fear.

Haha! The one with Groundskeeper Willie? I loved that. After watching that, Nightmare on Elm Street makes me laugh.

If you're afraid of lucid dreaming, aim for getting good recall for now instead. You won't lucid dream effectively if you are afraid to. In time you will find your abilities in dreams improving and you'll grow more confident.

As for Freddy Krueger. Try turning the face into something else, try making it a figure of fun.

What I would do is go into a dark room, start breathing slowly and close my eyes. I would picture Freddy's face and repeat "Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists." Or a similar mantra/affirmation. Face it, conquer that fear and if you can, sleep.

Maybe Freddy is a measure for you. If you can banish that fear you can definitely lucid dream effectively too.

That is a great idea! I personally always went with something along the lines of pretending my fears were Boggarts from Harry Potter and turning them into something excessively silly.

Here's some things that could help you.

      1. Whenever something scares you in RL, do an RC.

      2. Question your fear. Ask yourself why the heck you're afraid of that thing anyway. Ex: "Didn't that thing die at the end of the movie anyway?!" Or, "In reality, that was just a actor in a mask with a plastic knife!

      3. Get an RL confidence boost. Get a girlfriend, (if you don't have one) go to a party, do something craaaaaazy.

      4. Get a dream confidence boost. Eat a super pill, consult your dream guide, hire bodygaurds. Epic Showdown anyone?

      5. Get in a good mood. Watch a comedy before bed, think of the most awesome thing you did that day, or create some kind of spoof off that fear in your head.

Number 1 provides better control over a dream situation. The rest help give you a sound mind, and less fear.
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?
