      WILD Motivation?

Ive been trying to WILD using WBTB and i always give up after a while cause its taking ages and i think its not going to happen. Should i just keep trying or just give up on WILD?

      Keep trying!!!

WILDing is a very hard thing to accomplish. Some can do it on their first try, but I know some who have taken months to accomplish it.

It's an amazing experience and for no reason should you become discouraged and stop trying.

      DO NOT GIVE UP!!!

Trust me on this: a Lucid Dream is worth every bit of effort you put towards it.

Try this little technique of mine when it comes to WILDing, you might find that it helps.

      1. Get at least 5 to 6 hours of sleep (WBTB). (optional)

      2. Devote at least 2 hours (or more) to WILDing.(optional)

      3. Remember your goal (where you want to go, what you want to do, etc).

      4. Dismiss any other thoughts and focus only on taking slow, deep breaths.

      5. Remain COMPLETELY still, no matter what.

      6. Try to steer clear of straying/abstract thoughts when entering SP (random/abstract thoughts means that the logical part of your brain is falling asleep, dont let it!). (they can also cause you to enter a non-Lucid Dream which would make all this work was for nothing!)

      7. Dont fight or resist SP in any way / stay relaxed and calm when it begins to happen.

      8. Continue to focus only on your (slow, deep) breathing as vibrations, Hypnagogic Imagery, and auditory hallucinations become more intense from SP.

(you can focus on and/or visualize your goal once you think you've got the breathing part down packed).

      9. Continue step 8 until you feel that sudden rush of spinning and/or falling through your bed or ceiling (in my case); this should mean that SP is complete, and hence you are ready to dream.

      10. If you are not already in a dream scene, then spin around or rub your hands together (or both) in order to conjure up one. Doing this can also stabilize a fading/blurry dream scene.

There you have it, those are pretty much all the steps I take when Im attempting a WILD. And if it doesnt work the first time, remember that it takes time so dont give up! I know it seems like a lot, but once you've been through it many times, you will become better and better at it.

I personally find that motivation is one of the most important aspects of WILDing. Exactly like you, I often felt like giving up during my attempts of WILDing. My best advice is to keep at it, and understand that it is a hard task with great rewards. Another thing you could try that worked for me, is cover up your clock when you sleep. By not knowing the time, I found that I was less bothered by how long it was taking.

Good luck, and don't give up!

Hey, thanks for the advice everyone. I'll try to be a bit more ruthless (only word that came to my mind :S) with my attempts. I'd like to get this down because DILD seems to be unreliable for me. I'll try your exact way Wolf and see if it helps, although im sure ill be driven insane by trying not to swallow :\ Your not supposed to swallow right?

Anyway thanks for the inspiration guys hope i can do better.

Yeah, some people say you can swallow, others say you cant. I personally think that it delays SP, so I try not to if I can help it.
But if you try breathing out of your nose when WILDing then that seems to help out a little bit w/ the whole swallowing thing.

YES!!!! Swallowing is a major pain that can be somewhat avoided by breathing through your nose.

Hi again everyone, thanks for all your help so far. I tried your exact technique wolf (even avoided swallowing). After i started to concentrate on my breathing my body started to tingle. My hands were touching and i lost all feeling in them like i couldnt feel my other hand. Some things started moving in my vision (like those patterns when you push on your eyes), and i felt like if i wanted to move i couldn't.......then.....nothing. My vision was black the sensations stopped and evetually i got up. Is there something i need to do to convert this into a dream from here or just keep at the breathing thing?

You probably got too excited and pulled yourself out of sp. Try to relax when it's happening. I know it's hard though because it is exciting.

Yeah, it definitely sounds lie like you might've reacted to SP in some way (excitement, shock, etc.). This is exactly why practice is the best way to master the technique of WILDing; this way you will become used to SP, how it feels and how to react to it w/o waking yourself.

When you asked what you did wrong above, I would say getting up and giving it up. You will find that even after you practice this a lot of times, you still might not get it on the very first attempt. Remember what step 5 said:

I meant that in any circumstance.
In future attempts, when you become aware that you reacted in some way that delayed SP, dont react at all, remain still, start the breathing over and go for it again like nothing happened and you will get it.
