      Songs to Fall Asleep To

So today i was trying to come up with a playlist of good songs to fall asleep to and i had some trouble so i thout that i could share my findings and see what changes or additions should be made.

I think we should aim for about of 45 min but you know the more the better. Also i will update the list every once and a while whith your recomenations. Instramental songs are very good types of songs to sleep to so we should have more of them. Also i think the songs shoud be in a good order of calmness so it slowly calms you down.

Songs show atist first, song name second

Franz Ferdinand - Lucid Dreams (3:40)

      Timothy Whyllie - Instrumental (29:46)

      INXS - Afterglow (4:09)

The Shins - Those to Come (4:33)

      Champagne Supernova- Oasis 7:27

Oasis - Morning glory unplugged (3:36)

Embrace - World at your feet (3:37)

      Lighthouse Family - Ocean drive(3:48)

      Coldplay - The Scientist(4:34)

      Coldplay - Yellow (4:28)

      Gillian Welch - I dream a highway (4:08)

Faith no more - Easy (3:29)

      The Notwist - Consequence (5:12)

Sigur Rós - Untitled III (6:31)

      Tim Halbet - Boomshine (2:08)

      Bernward Koch - Flight Being(4:21)

      Total Length: REALY LONG

Obiously this is a big list, so i recomend you tailor it to your liking.

      Other Recomendations

Bullet For My Valentine, Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, Serj Tankian, Classical Music, Sigur Ros,`and the di.fm chillout channel

      Afterglow- INXS 4:09
      Champagne Supernova- Oasis 7:27
Those To Come- The Shins 4:34
      Instrumental- Timothy Whyllie- 29:46

Instrumental isn't a song... Timothy Whyllie gets you to visual and helps you to relax your body... It gets me so relaxed that I fall asleep within 6:30 minutes

      The order would be:

Instrumental, Afterglow, Those To Come and Champagne Supernova... If you aren't sleeping by Champagne Supernova, I would be very impressed...

Oh, I didn't notice that you put down Those To Come... That should be definitely be on the list...

I don't fall asleep to music but i think i might give this a go, i will create a playlist on my ipod. I think they should be calm and relaxing songs but also with one or two lucid dream songs to put you in the right frame of mind if you want to become lucid that is.

A problem is i don't know of much good songs in this category, i will have to do some research, i will post my findings.

This won't probably help anybody else but for me, Bullet For My Valentine, Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, and Serj Tankian.

Ok i have made the changes and as you can now se the list is huge. (I might find the actual length later but this has to be a sure fire way to calm down and sleep). Also as said in my updated post i reccomend that you tailor the list to your liking.

I think THE best would be

      Life in Technicolor by Coldplay.

Listen to this and you'll know what I mean.

I also think Hedley would work well, especially slower songs like "Gunnin'" and "Trip." I would also try "For The Nights I Can't Remember" and "Brave New World." These are just some of the many amazing Hedley songs that you should listen to. The acoustic version of Trip is also good to fall asleep to.

Firstly, let me say; nice taste of songs guys!

      A few additional songs i would like to suggest are;

Editors - The Racing Rats (4:18)
The Enemy - We'll Live and Die In These towns (3:56)
      Massive Attack - Teardrop (5:24)
Michael Andrews - The Artifact and Living (2:31)
UNKLE - Rabbit in Your Headlights (6:19)

BTW: i 100% agree with Scarhand's Coldplay suggestion. You could easily fall asleep to any of the songs from Coldplay's new ablum!

If you ever want a dream that has a lot of action (shoot-outs), "Clubbed To Death" by Rob Dougan is a good choice.

Acoustic Medley [instrumental] by In Flames from the jeste race/black ash inheritance album.

I want to recommend that its totally mellow and yet i think it "twangy" enough to bring the mind a bit awake...

I like to grab 2-3 songs the exact same length, and listen to them on repeat simultaneously. As I start to drift off I try and meld them into one song in my head. I find this is the best way, for myself, to have a lucid dream with spontaneous music composition.

This was a topic a little while ago, I made an image of screenshots in iTunes of all of my sleep playlists:

Anything that doesn't fit the theme is a song that reminds me of lucid dreaming, just to get me in the mindframe before bed

I also have ones with Massive Attack, Esthero, Zero 7, Portishead, Frou Frou, Dido, Conjure One...

Basically I follow this rule: Almost anything by Enya and Orbital, and a few songs from the Gladiator, Titanic, The Lion King on Broadway, Halo, and Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtracks will knock me right out. In Flames also has that effect on me, even though it's pretty heavy compared to those other songs/bands I mentioned

If I had to pick my top songs, I would say... Halcyon on and On by Orbital, Elysium and Now We Are Free (Gladiator Soundtrack), Under the Stars and King of Pride Rock (Lion King Broadway Soundtrack), and Celtic Dream by Enigma.

Ah that reminds me, I found these a while ago. It may have even been that someone on here linked to them in that thread I mentioned, I don't remember.
