      Is it possible to...

stay conscious during the end of a rem cycle and start lucid right into the next? I never had a lucid dream that I simply stayed forever conscious, so I don't know.

From my understanding of sleeping cycle, its possible. Consider that you can dream outside of the R.E.M, and you will understand why. I have already experience, or at least I think that I did, what you describe.

While I cannot in any certain way assure you its the same phenomena, ill describe to you what I experience so you can make your own conclusion.

I had a very normal lucid dream(as normal as lucid dreams are) but at a certain time in the dream, I started to loose more and more realism in my dream. The image started to fade away, while I could say i was dreaming. The dream was loosing in vivacity until I lost my vision completely. By then, I was still conscious, or lucid if you prefer, but I could only hear sounds. This lasted for a long time by my perception of time. After a while, I regain my vision, slowly and the dream went on

After waking up, I concluded after some searching I had experience lucidity through what was probably the deep sleep phase, but of that i cannot be certain.
There is nothing like a dream to create the future.
