Possible to have a fake lucid dream?

What I mean is, is it possible to dream you are lucid but not actually be lucid at all?

I ask because I think this may have happened to me the other week. I used to practice gaining lucidity a lot a few years ago and I was getting fairly experienced. But then I just stopped. So I'm looking to get back into it now and I was just wondering about this.

Wouldn't it be pretty much the same?

There are some scientists that keep stating that you can only dream about being lucid, and lucid dreaming as being concious while sleeping not being possible. I imagine it would be pretty much the same whether you're concious or not.

Another thing that comes to play would be the so-called dream logic.

I used to think something like this when I just started dreaming, because it happened almost every lucid dream. I knew I was dreaming but I didn't really grasp the concept of what I could do. Now I just think that this is a lower level of lucidity.
Help us grow. My lucid dreaming website. Yes I know it is pitiful.

I think i get where you're going but its complicated. This would be similar to dreaming you are sleeping, or dreaming you are dreaming.

In such a case, you would technically have absolutely no possibility to control the dream(which is not prerequisite to be lucid).

To be short, In a real lucid dream, you are conscious

In that kind of dream, you dream that you are conscious, while you're not
There is nothing like a dream to create the future.

I have had a few dreams in which I dreamt I was having a lucid dream, woke up, remembered all about it and told everyone. I don't remember anything about the 'lucid dream' that was inside of my real dream.
