Nocturnal Seizures

I sometimes have nocturnal tonic-clonic (grand mal/convulsive) seizures. Does anyone else here have nocturnal seizures/nocturnal epilepsy? How does it effect your sleep cycle and life? I've only just started having them so I'm not really sure about anything.

That sounds like one of those things that you need to go see a doctor about. That doesnt sound like something normal.

What do you take me for? Of course I've been to the doctor about them, I've been in A&E twice because of them! The doctors think it's epilepsy, athough I've yet to be properly diagnosed.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't started this topic to brag (if that is possible) about my seizures, neither to get any reassurance about them, I was just wondering if any others out there are having similar fits. In particular, does it affect your view on LDing? 'Cos I'm a bit wary of LDs now, i.e. has LDing brought on the seizures? It's possible...

I doubt that LD's would bring them on. I dont see how. Of course Im no expert and stranger things have happened, but from my experienced lucid dreaming is no more stressfull than regular dreams. Actually I find them less stressfull with all worries gone and a huge creative outlet at my disposal.

If anyone is still intersted, it is epilepsy. I was diagnosed last Thursday. It is due to a scar I have in my brain leading from the middle of the left hemisphere down into the cerebral cortex. It also causes an impairment of movement in my right side (makes sense considering the scar is in the left hemisphere) called hemiplegia. They picked it up by MRI. I'll be on a drug called lamotrigine for the rest of my life, which is no big deal. Let's hope it doesn't adversely affect LDs!

I hope its all going well for you. Probably good to know what it is and get on with life. Im sure this drug wont affect LDing as long as you're not stressin and thinking it will.

My placenta detatched from the uterus wall and I think it haemmoraged, and this caused the starvation of oxygen, which probably led to the death of the neurons involved. Luckily, a caesarian section was performed until any further damage could be done.

Well I hope that you'll be ok because it might take a while to get used to the medicine (and I hope it doesn't have any weird side effects)

good luck with your meds... back in the days when i actually took my meds to keep me from twitching, i know they made dreams... interesting, to say in the least; very strong, emotion driven dreams, a good number lucid, though i had so many dreams a night i really couldn't keep track of them to any degree, and they had a tendancy to be on the bizarre side... but then, i know valium seems to induce dreams and/or hallucinations that are more or less like what you might see on acid, and klonopin was a relation of valium... i don't know what they have you on, but good luck with both side effects and dreams... unlike me, u can't get pist at the side effects and quit.
