They naturally have better hand-eye coordination, and/or they maintain a physically fit and active body, and/or they practice, and/or they eat their Wheaties.

Their bodies are built with more able vocal cords, diaphraghms, etc., and listening to a lot of music helps.

      In a word, genetics.

When I was younger I was able, to a degree, to LD, though not by a very conventional method (from what I've surmised). I used to share my dreams with a friend but soon it felt like I was sharing too much with her and kept too little to myself. I believe it's healthy to have a certain number of harmless secrets - like what you dreamed. Anyway, I stopped sharing. Then I suppose I lost a degree of interest in dreaming and focused on other things. I believe that if I had continued my interest in dreams (or someone had told me about LDing) I would still be able to naturally LD today.

I think that as young people we are inherently able to LD, but as reality sinks in we lose interest, and therefore ability. Then it must be re-learned. I think that naturals are those that have retained the ability they had during childhood.

What do you think about this? Have you ever done something or heard of someone doing something they were ignorant of and when you or they learned of it they were unable to do it again? I'm just curious. I'm wondering how much of a possibility that is. If that theory is true, then one could say that naturals are simply those not affected by the detrimental effects of that revealed knowledge. Learned Lders would then be those that would have to find a way to retain their lost ability.

      Just my 2 bits.

i think that makes total sense! once the child-like innocence has gone - and you know too much about reality and what's possible, you loose that ability to widen your imaginiation.
also, i've done things and not known ive been able to do them, and once i knew what they were and how they worked, i couldnt do them agian.

I think part of it is also how you physically sleep. How fast you fall asleep, how deep a sleeper you are and how active your mind is while dreaming.

I would say the biggest thing is how well you remeber dreams. If you have great recall your going to be a natural at lucid dreams. Like anything though, practice is the most important thing.

      Very interesting question.

I think Alric had some interesting viewpoints on this.

Amethyst Star you think how I think about this. It take ages to fall asleep like 1-2hrs of lying in bed just randomly thinking bout stuff before I actually drop off. In the morning just before I awake is when I mostly have good dreams so far.
To focus on one state of mind always.

I, personally, have very good recall (always improving, though) but I still don't have a natural ability to LD. Personally, I feel that recall is vastly important, but only to those who LD using dream-signs. I haven't done as much practice with DSs as I should, but that's my opinion.
