      acoustic lucid dream helper

Most of us surely have heard about the Novadreamer and other vision based LD tools. I just had the thought, why not use an acoustic signal, a voice telling you that you are dreaming. Wouldn't that be a lot more direct and effective?

You'd think so, but apparently the trials show it isn't as good. I guess that's because our brains are listening for danger all the time while we sleep, anything unusual and it wakes us up, if it is a sound that it recognises that it knows is not danger, it ignores it.

Maybe at first, but after a while that sound is no longer recognized as a possible threat, just like other sounds in your environment. The question is if it gets through to you.

I had idea somthing like this but never actually tried it yet. But i wonder are most people like me the deeper in sleep i go the louder white noise start's become's.Just the sound of thing's running in your house or if your cursed like me that horrble ringing in the ear's that never go away. But any way i had an idea it's gonna sound dumb but what if you sleep with headphone on playing somthing on loop. And have the volume to the point where you can barely hear it.And the deeper in sleep you go it should become louder and by that time thats when HI's should start happening.Well that's when i start to notice HI's to come around for me when things seem to get louder.Yeah i know it's a crazy idea but who know's it might work in help becoming lucid

Waiting for someone to enter REM and then whispering to them that they are dreaming and to do a reality check has worked for me before. Unfortunately I kept talking at her and she woke up, and she told me that in her dream she was yelling at me to be quiet and stop distracting her So I think it could work, but just like a NovaDreamer, I think the stimulus could also wake a person up unless they practice incorporating it into the dream. It might take a while to find out how loud or soft it must be to be effective. You'd also have to recognize that the person was in REM I guess, which could get tricky, although if you had the eye sensors and headphones I don't think it would be too bad.
