Alright, once again, I have to thank this site for reigniting my interest in lucid dreaming. I found it about a year ago and have had about seven in the last 8 months. 3 in the last week. My so-called problem is that recently(last night for example) I have been staying up until 4 in the morning or so and am finding it easy to slip into lucidity. I just try to go to sleep and im laying there and start seeing faint images flashing and then I feel the "shift". The awareness in me says hey here we go. As soon as I feel this, I try to get up out of bed. It happens very slowly and real-like and im always in my house and make my way to the door to distance myself from myself. I dont open my eyes until im outside for fear that I will open my eyes in bed and wake up. Last night night I did this twice within 30 minutes. The first time went pretty well but short, I was able to fly and had alright control but I only made it as far as the neighbors house, where some hot new lady caught my attention. Once I engaged the group of people, it was a few minutes and I was back in bed.
Act II- Went back to sleep, felt the shift again, slowly got up, eyes closed, felt my way to the door and stepped out. Opened my eyes and Im still in my neighborhood. Flew down the street, a few houses farther this time. Felt like I ran out of gas and became very heavy and floated to the ground. As i was fighting to stay awake, someone up the road was listening to an old george jones cd and having a good old time. I fought my way to my feet and started spinning to gain some clarity but it was futile. While trying to keep my eyes open and spinning, I awoke with my eyes open and the room spinning. Made me think my eyes were open for a while, which I know is possble.
Now, I guess, all I ask is how do you fight your eyes wanting to close in a dream? And entering lucids in the fashion above, how do you mix it up with scenery? This problem only pertains to last night, but I would like not to have to waste lucids like that.
On a side note, a few weeks ago I did the same thing, except I went out of a sliding glass door in my room(that does not exist) and had one of the best lucids I have ever had. Definitely the longest. Same entrance though. Looked at the clock, 4:07am closed my eyes, felt the shift, off i went. Fell out of it at 4:52am. Felt like an entire night.
Thanks for your help. And thanks for this site.
