      Someone please explain what's happening!

Ok, So i'm laying down on my back. ( This is first time of trying a lucid dream), I have made a mental note to do a ''reality check'', I can feel I am slowly going, my body is tensing up and as I start to think random/stupid things I KNOW ( I am concious 100% at this time, i can twitch my fingers so i know), as this gets stronger I can feel my eyelids twitching and can feel REM ( this is 15-30 mins after laying down is that normal?) and as I feel my self getting deeper asleep I can feel my whole body twitch sometimes and get heavier.. as I start to dream, i almost wake my self up trying to do reality checks.. In my mind I keep thinking '' am I dreaming?'' and it will sort of start over..

Am I doing something wrong? I haven't had a chance to get into deep-dreaming because of the reality checks waking me up... I am normally able to fall asleep within 15 minutes of when I hit the pillow and can sleep for 10 hours~ or more a day.. but after trying for an hour I gave up and came here. help appreciated

small edit, I also hear my breathing heavy, almost like i'm snoring ( I don't snore but yuo get the idea)

It sounds to me like you might be trying a little too hard to relax. I know that used to be one of my problems. I would waste 2+ hours of sleep a night trying to dream.

If you can, relax a little more, or tell yourself that it is OK if you DON'T have a lucid dream that night. Other than that, just keep practicing.

      Good luck!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
