      Desperation and Perception of time

Well i just had my Second LD! (WOO!) i was lying in my bead and i thought to myself "Wouldn't it be cool if was asleep right now?" and i did a reality check and low and behold, I was dreaming! Once i was lucid i remember thinking "O my gosh i have no time at all! If i don't do this RIGHT NOW i wont get another chance for another month!" and the lucidity lasted a good 5 to 10 minutes and went of into another dream it seemed.

Anyway since i woke up I've been wondering if feeling this "Hurry up Hurry up!" sensation is hurting my ability to do stuff in a dream?

Also, whats the deal with "dream time" vs real time? If i were in a dream and i said "This dream will last 2 hours" would it last 2 hours? How about a day? 2 days? A week? and so on.

Of course being only my second LD I don't plan on soon having a week long dream, but I've always been curious.

Dream time is strange.. I actually had a dream that I was going around the world on a pirate ship and it took about two weeks. And it really felt like two weeks. Then I "woke up" from that dream into another dream (two dreams in one) where I was telling my friends about it. So the total time was about 2 weeks and 30 minutes. It was very interesting. Still, I looked at my clock and it wasn't an unusually long dream..

There have been reports of prolonged dreams, so I would say that they are not completely out of the question, although there is some debate over how "authentic" such dreams really are. Some would say that the extra time you have in a dream is simply false memories you have not actually experienced. On the other hand, you have people who believe otherwise. Regardless, it's certainly an interesting concept however.

Also, I wouldn't worry about the "Hurry Up" feeling you had. It's a pretty common feeling, and it will hopefully fade in future lucid dreams.

Ah yea that's a problem I had at first, rushing into dreams without stabilizing. And what usually happened is it would (I think) cause me to wake prematurely, because I got so crazy and rushed to do things and didn't make sure the dream was nice and stable.

Mentally try to prepare yourself just by calming down, trying to remember to stay calm, telling yourself that the first thing you will always do is stabilize and review your dream goals...

As for me, well... enough lucids ruined by rushing into the dream, I learned my lesson

The thing is with time is that it's a dimension that we do not perceive in the same way we perceive other dimensions. We almost ignore it. That dream you had could have happened in a fraction of a second. In my opinion the time as we know it, does not exist in our dreams. Just think of it that way, if it's not there then you shouldn't rush, or do more things in that short period of time, because that short period, could be shorter or longer then you thought.

This is pretty cool (timelessness), but when i got down to thinking about it, i came to the sort of realization that the brain is all neurons and electricity, and that even tho electricity is extremely fast, a dream (sight sound smell etc) must take hundreds of thousands if not more neurons firing. so i figured a "second" of a dream must take a minimum amount of time. This would make sense... or would it?

Also, i had this lucid in a strange way, i did a WBTB, but i dont think i did anything correctly, i got up, turned off my alarm and fell back into bed read to do a FILD and the next thing i remember I'm lying in my bed wondering if I'm asleep (and i was) without remembering actually moving my fingers. Would this be a total coincidence that i dreamt about lying in bed?

Lastly! as soon as i realized i was dreaming a whole flood of things i had read in tutorials and such was rushing into my mind so i clearly remember thinking "ok. calm, calm... dont wake up, spin, rub the palms" all those good things, once i could look around and see my room, i decided time to leave and went on with my dream. from There, i got excited and pressed for time. and i don't remember that waking me up, it faded to another dream eventually.

(Sorry for the kind of long post... )
