      Sleep Paralization

      So I've bee trying to wild for a few days and I realized that a few of the times I thought I was in SP I never actually was! What would happen is a numbness would pass through my body and It would be like I was just kinda floating because there would be no feeling. I mistook this for SP a few times, but the I realized that despite the numbness I could move like normal. and if I completely sit up it goes away.

      However, the weirder thing is that sometimes if my mind drifts to far from the wild in this state I can feel....um my hand leaving my hand. Like I'm numb in the hand and I can still mentally feel the weight, but at the same time there is another pressure in the shape of my hand leaving it.

      During this state the track I was listening to was full of water waves and air sounds. I was soon beginning to feel a breeze on the side of my face. Was this Hpogonics? If so I thought it only happened during SP.
      ///////////

      So I'm really (I dont think) not even close to a full wild. I have a few questions, and have not seen this really mentioned directly in a tutorial. Is this numbness the effect before the SP sets in? (I waited 30-45 minutes after it set in and still no SP)

      Is there a way to stop the temptation to swallow while wilding?

      What was that odd sensation with my hand? Was it a dream body? Hypoginic? Why would it happen before SP?

      I don't count these as true lucids because they where not very clear, but until I have my first real lucid these will do.)

      I'm not sure about your dream hand thingy, but I think what you where seeing and feeling were hallucinations. I get them when I'm not in SP. For instance, the other night I just laid there for what seemed an eternity (only an hour really) and I started hearing music play real loudly from the other side of the room(I'm not sure what song it was, I'd never heard it before). I sat up quickly and it just stopped. I don't think I was in SP or anything.

      My guess is that you have been experiencing the beginning phases of sleep paralysis. Obviously, that means that you would still (pretty much) have control over your body. Though it seems that you've been moving before it has completed, thus effectively ruining your chances to WILD
      That would also explain the numbness.

      Go ahead and swallow. From my experience, this hasn't (so far) negatively affected my induction attempts.

      If you actually have been going through the beginning of sleep paralysis, then it's all part of the experience.

      Good luck with your next attempts

      The key to sleep paralysis is to become extremely tired and mess around with your sleep patterns.

      Sleep paralysis kicks in very quickly and not after laying there for ages.. it's like your body wants to rest as fast as possible and your brain shuts your body down before your mind has drifted off to sleep, sometimes you may not even realise until you try to move and once you do you'll realise your truly stuck... the rest is upto you!

      I had the exact same experience. I remember being in bed for what seemed like ages and would only feel numbness and heaviness, but, I never got vibrations and I was still able to move, etc.... I originally thought it was SP, until I found out it wasn't but the early stages. I found that if I ran on the treadmill a couple of hours before bed, then I'll get to SP that much sooner and easier. Infact, I started feeling vibrations when I really pushed myself on the treadmill(shouldn't have though, lol ). In some of my cases where I was in the pre-SP stage, I also felt my hand floating like in your case. I automatically thought that it might be my astral body so I stopped, but, I wasn't even fully in SP, so, I can't really comment what it was

      I have almost exactly the same feeling every time I try to WILD. It's like a ghost version of the hand slowly moving out of the real hand, and in my case it's always twisting itself into an impossible angle with respect to the rest of the body. I have no idea what it is though.
