Well, post-sleep it is technically called hypnopompia. |

I have a question, this happened to me: I was trying to get to sleep paralysis to then enter a lucid dream state using the sp tutorial, but I got tired of waiting so i just fell asleep; suddenly I woke up and heard those rushing noises characteristic of deep sleep, and i thought I was going through a hypnopompic state, cause i've had those several times, and although I heard the noises and I could literally see images with my eyes closed I then must have fallen asleep because i couldn't remember anything after that, so my question is is it possible to enter a hypnagogia state after falling asleep and then waking up in that state and so forth? |

hmm, let me put it this way; instead of being aware while entering sleep paralysis, is it possible that i fell asleep then woke up then experienced sleep paraliysis (hypnagogia) and not (hypnopompia); because when i woke up i heard the rushing sound and would become like fully awake but in this case i woke up experienced the sounds, images and then fell in a deep sleep |

Ah ok. Yes, it is actually more common to experience sleep paralysis when waking up, in the general population at least. (This may or may not differ in LDers, who attempt to initiate SP before sleep). |
