How often do you have Lucid dreams?

I'd like to know a little more about my fellow lucid dreamers. Naturally, we each want to know where our "ability" lies with respect to others. The beginner would like some idea of what to expect. Someone who has LD's frequently would be interested to know if their ability is extremely unusual. How often do you lucid dream?

Also, does anyone know of any published data on the percentage of people who have lucid dreams? The demographics of this community has to be an interesting subject in itself. Does anyone have any info on this? Or any ideas on how to develop a (at least semi-scientific) survey? The polling option seems to be a one question deal. Is it possible to create a running survey?

      Thanks,

Hmmm it would be hard to accurately find out unless it was put in a mass survey, using the media to spread it around. I voted never had one, as i had one a few years ago.

I don’t think there’s anything particularly special about different peoples ability’s its more or less all down environment and personal commitment anyway. As for asking people if they have had lucid dreams is more or less impossible because its down to that person to remember there own dreams, just because they cant remember doesn’t me it didn’t happen.

Of course, it's possible we all have lucid dreams all of the time - we just forget them before we wake up. But of those we remember, the number of "lucid" dreams is small. And, speaking for myself, the number of vivid lucid dreams over which I exert some cognizant control is very small.

The question is a general one, however. How often do you have a dream that you knew was a dream while you were in it?

That's basically what a lucid dream is, realising that you are in a dream, along with the control. All of us have a certain amount of control in dreams, but realising it's a dream is where everything changes.

Interesting perspective. From personal experience, however, I've found it to be the other way around. Normally, I have no control over a dream, and don't realize it's a dream until after I'm awake. Sometimes my dreams are vivid, sometimes they are "faded".

However, fairly often, I recognize that I'm dreaming. Even so, I have little or no control. But I think this is because I'm too deep in the sleep state. Even though I know that I'm dreaming, it's a kind of fuzzy and dim memory when I wake up.

But occasionally (perhaps I should say "rarely") I experience the lucid dream. The images, sounds, and sensations are incredibly realistic! And, I have concious control over my actions (rarely do I have control over the scenery, however). I can explore the dreamscape and even fly!

Categorizing these "types" of dreams and LD's is difficult however. The strongest LD's I've experienced have been few and far between. Still, I have a "lucid" experience fairly often.
