      I agree with this. It's probably a "too good to be true" impulse in the back of your head, creating self doubt and manifesting itself as a lucid dreaming obstacle.

      Although it is in your head, I would say it's more a side effect of using this specific technique. Many forms of meditation work with your eyes open, so I don't think it is a stretch that keeping your body asleep while mind active will produce this result in some people.

      It could also be another "Are you really asleep?" test as you learn to successfully use the technique.

      Actually, I guess that is a good question for this thread. When you started using this tecnique, did this happen before the first time you were successful? Or did it only start to happen after you used the technique succesfully at least once?
