      move a lot in sleep

      i have been practicing lucid dreaming for about 2 weeks now. although i can only recall my dreams and not actually control them they are still very clear. i can remember the littlest of details. i so far really enjoy it but worry about one thing.

      Is it normal to move a lot in your sleep while having a lucid dream because my brother recently just got back home from college and i have been sharing my room with him and he says that i am constantly making noises and moving my legs up in and out of the air. so im worried once i get better at actually controlling my dreams that things like making noises and moving will get a lot worse while sleeping.

      I believe that when you dream, SP is in effect, so you must move when you aren't dreaming. Therefore, learning to LD won't effect the amount that you move.
      Hmm....doesn't seem right....
      Was that a dancing banana? A dancing muffin? I'm forgetting something.....oh yeah!

      During REM sleep and REM dreams your body may be in REM atonia, which means you can't move. If you are having NREM dreams, then you can potentially move around. Ask your brother when it is that he sees you doing this- is it very early on after you go to sleep?

      Do you have a history of sleep walking/talking?

      well my sleep pattern has always been fucked up. i sleep for 2 to 3 hours then wake up. the last time he told me i was moving a lot was after i had just slept for 3 hours then i went back to sleep thats when he told me i was moving a lot so about 4 hours into my sleep i would say.

      Only thing I can think of is you could be dreaming your running or something? Or possibly nightmares? I couldn't really tell you for sure though as I can barely remember my own dreams

      No, that is incorrect. You are confusing sleep paralysis and REM atonia.

      No no, it's just good to do research. Experience has nothing to do with science. The most experienced lucid dreamer could be a natural who gets the science completely f'ed up
