In a normal person, you do not go through either. HH is just falling asleep, or waking up (respectively), and you shouldn't be experiencing any paralysis whatsoever. Now, if a freakshow occurrence of SP kicks in or if you have it as a disorder, that will be when it does- atonia happening when it is not supposed to, during hypnagogia or hypnopompia. On the other hand, during your REM periods you should be getting REM atonia.
