Pinch Yourself Eevery Now and Then

Okay heres the deal Im visiting my Moms house during the Thanksgiving Holidays. So the next Morning I awake still trying to refocuse on my waking world. As I get up walk out of the bedroom and on my way to the restroom I hear the toliet flush. So im thinking okay my little sister must be in there. Moments later the door open and My Dog walks out of the bathroon stops in front of me and looks at me with this expression like What the Hell are you looking at? I look back at him and think in my mind Impossible. See My dog doesn't know how to flush a toliet. Then it hit me Awww YEAH! BABY im High Level Lucid. So I strut! my stuff pass my Mothers room and she has this expression like what is he so happy about. Im like Mom Check this out! Thinking in my Mind Yeah Baby time to Walk through some walls So I take off--- full speed and BAAAMMM!!! I hit the wall head first. My Mother just cracked up Laughing at me. Come to find out later that my little sister was obessed with Bruce Almighty the Movie and taught my Dog Nanook how to flush toliets. Man did I feel Dumb. So the moral of the story is Make sure to at least pinch yourself sometimes just to make sure your back in the waking world.

      Ouch!
Pinching yourself wont work, it would hurt just as much in the dream world as in the real world.
These are the tears that I dream about...

I think feeling pain in the dream world is perfectly normal, I mean shadow i tought you where a natural eversince you where a kid? Then im sure you have felt pain? Mabey you just dont remember. I feel pain all the time, i get in fights with "things" and you get tired, you feel pain just like in the normal world and its most certainly not fun to fight against something hostile..it hurts

I cannot remember pain in a LD, but in a regular dream, its normal for me to feel as Lucius said, tired, hurt, etc.

Yeah, I've felt pain a few times in dreams and I haven't had many lucid dreams yet (although my dreams are becoming amazingly vivid lately). Like Lucius said, I think it's pretty common, I'm surprised you've never felt pain in a dream

Too bad pinching yourself doesn't induce lucidity.

Now thats amazing you all. You mean to tell me Im the only one in the Forum who doesn't feel pain in a dream? I can feel things of course but Pain is non-exsistant to me. ummmmm. Very Interesting. If I ever felt pain I know I would never forget that but its never happened. I've been shot before in a dream and it tickled.

Feeling pain in a dream doesn't determine wether or not you are a natural Lucius I know you know that.

The only thing I got from this thread was that you all feel pain in dreams. I guess I must have tapped into something within that you all haven't discovered yet. Never have I felt pain in a dream. Just emotional pain if that counts but never physical pain.

Ive felt Pain in a dream, but its an odd pain, unique to my dreams that only happens when its sumthing big like being shot or stabbed. I cant explain it very well but when it happens i know im dreaming, but the bad thing is when ever i feel that pain the dream ends.

I think I have a somewhat grasp on the reason for this. For instance in my LD's I take it for what it is. And to me its just my mind visually submitting imagery of the world I see before me. I don't feel like its real or even close to being real. considering the fact that none of it really exsist to me or is non-real to me then I guess thats the reason why pain doesn't exsist. I hear of people dying in dreams, falling from high places hitting the ground. And they react to it in the same fashion as they would if they were in the waking world. I do know that if you think its what it is then your mind will manifest that for what it is. I just refuse to fall in that category.

but pain is a part of the sensory input just like the visual, auditory and olfactory.

Pain itself is in the mind, even here.
It is a defense mechanism to allow you to know that you have been hurt, pain comes in the physical and emotional flavors, the emotional usualy being the more debilitating and lasting.

I feel pain here but I have a high threshold for it, I feel it, but it does not debilitate me, its the same in the dream world. I thikn it is what it is also, a defense mechanism to say hey asshole your in some deep shit now. (which is oft my case) We differ in our views of dreaming, I see the dream world as just as real as this place, so pain is just as real there. I wouldent want to loose the experience of pain, it helps me learn.

Its like cold. Its just a state of being, as long as you gieve your body the right amount of fuel you can deal with cold, only to a point of course frostbite and hypothermia are no joke.

Im curious though since you do not feel pain, do you feel normal tactile sensory input in your dreams? Do you remember feeling textures or the wind in your face? Oh wait you said that you got shot and it tickled.. heeh I wish that were the case I would be cappin my ass full o lead for jollies =)

I wouldent mind being able to turn off pain myself... but if it took away my sense of touch... hell no, not worth it.

      Seri,
I do feel everything else I mean during my LD's All of my senses seemed to be hightened by 100 times. When Im flying I can feel the wind up against my face the faster I fly the harder the wind. I feel pretty much everything else even smell things Taste things, can decipher wether something tastes crappy or good. Now hearing is different I can't hear background noises Only things in my close proximity. Visual is best I can zoom in on things/well not really because That moves me so Im not really zooming in on something far away Im just Moving myself closer. But I just don't feel pain I mean even the time I got shot in my dream there were no traces of Blood no bullet wonds or nothing it just tickled a bit. Yep but its always been like that in my dreams for me.

Yes, then thats probally because you refuse to accept it as real. I dont really see any other reasons either.

Shadow Im not saying your not a natural if you dont feel pain, Im saying if you've been doing it for so long you must have felt pain SOMETIME, but I gues that is not the case. I suppose your lucky on one hand, still not so lucky as you refuse to accept that it is real I gues. But mabey thats also luck, dont know yet hehe *runs away in confusion*
