      I felt the weirdest sensation last night! HELP!

      okay, i only have lucid dream maybe twice, but I've been trying for at least a year already! I've read lot's of experiences and posts about it...But for some reason I never can shut my body down even if I lay there like a mummy for eternity, I still can hear and sense everything around me...

      Well anyway, last night, while i was laying on my bed, I noticed this static sound in the back of my head. It was bunch of white noise and really high in pitch (it was very similar to the ringing sometimes we get). I thought it was funny and start to really focus in it. and it grew louder and louder until to took over my head.

      !!!THEN the weirdest thing happened! I felt my whole body tilting and rotating like a disk(the center being my waist)! It felt so real....

      SOMEONE know what this thing might be????

      Yep. You were experiencing Hypnagogic hallucinations. This is what happens when your body goes into sleep mode while you are still conscious. This occurred because you kept your mind working, focusing on that "white noise" (probably your central nervous system working), while letting your body relax and fall asleep. I myself have experienced my body sliding off the bed and up the wall just before going into a dream. I'm sure if you searched the forums, you will find many people with similar experiences.

      You were in the process of entering a WILD - a Wake Induced Lucid Dream. This is a popular but tricky technique, I would suggest searching the forums for a guide to help you understand what it is and how to do it. If you had stayed calm (I am assuming you got excited and started moving around in real life?), you would have experienced more weird things, probably, like sounds, images, etc. before entering into a dream. It is very hard to stay calm at this point, but if you do, voila: waking to dreaming, a seamless transition... beautiful, really.

      Also, please remember this is not the only way to induce a lucid dream! There are loads of other techniques, and keeping a dream journal and doing reality checks are surefire ways to help improve your dream experiences. You don't always have to lay there concentrating forever to have a lucid dream!

      YEAH!I am so happy!

      I have a question about this, when the hallucination happened, i was just starting to fall asleep, it's not like I was asleep for 5 hours before that or something, so I was diffinitely no where near the rem cycle... so how could I have dream?

      I'm not sure about that. Maybe I was wrong before, but it sure does sound like what you experienced was hypnagogic hallucination, which happens when you are conscious while falling asleep.

      I don't know if you can do this and then not have a dream; it doesn't seem like it would be possible.

      Maybe because you were laying there for so long, your brain waves had already shifted kind of close to REM? Or maybe something made it more like a nap? (naps can go directly into REM sleep, which is why they are great for WILDs).

      when I'm in sleep paralysis i hear like a loud bang or a strange zap in my brain that fills my body with a fuzzy electric feeling, then i hear bubbling, talking, wind rushing by or just an echoing distortion, then it fells like I'm falling of the bed, or falling through the bed, or levitating towards the roof.
      then I see patterns rushing past, like I'm running through a corridor while looking at the wallpaper on the walls. then I start to spin, and the patterns start to spin really fast,and images start to flash and i can fell my heart beating faster in my chest.

      then I either wake up or enter a dream, I always reality check tho because I had a false awakening once and only realized later on when I looked back and remembered differences about my room.

      so... it's not related to LD?

      I want to be clear, when I fall asleep that day, it was about 12pm, I went to be probably at 11:30mp, so I couldn't have been near a rem.. I think.

      I really thought that it was something unique, because the spinning was so real and my head was really dizzy.... but after 10 or 15 min, the sensation went away, and teh noises quite down. My body were sort of numb but i am pretty sure it was not paralyzed...but My mind weren't blurry or anything, it was clear and I had to move around a little bet before I felt asleep.

      that happened with me once... Very scary when you think your awake and then notice your tv is off or even gone when you just had it on 1 minute ago

      Hypnagogia has nothing, really, to do with lucid dreaming. Except that you keep your awareness up, and you'll start to notice them.
      REM-onset also, as far as I know, has nothing really to do with hypnagogia... I've never read anything to that effect (though admittedly the lit is scarce )
      Sounds like you experienced some simple hypnagogia though,

      Dreams don't only happen in REMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

      Well, sure, hypnagogia does not strictly imply lucid dreaming, but to me, that's like saying smoke has nothing to do with fire. Hypnagogia happens while you conscious while falling asleep, and what else could happen when you are conscious while asleep than lucid dreaming?

      I not sure why you think it isn't related to an LD now, judging from all that has been said.

      That right there is getting close to an LD...as cited before...and it is a cool but not a unique experience.

      I thought we have to sleep for at least 4-6 hours before we enter the REM cycle in order to dream and therefore become lucid

      Not true. Like I said in my previous post, napping can lead directly into REM sleep. I'm not sure of the science behind this, but surely you have dosed off during class or on a Saturday afternoon only to find yourself jolted awake after 10 minutes of a having a dream.

      It all depends on how the brainwaves are acting, and this could be influenced by many things, such as how much sleep you've gotten recently, diet and exercise, stress, sleeping pattern (do you sleep for 8 hours a night? or five hours and take a nap during the day?), etc.

      I'm no expert so you should just google this stuff and see what you find.
