LDing as Practice for Real Life

I'm thinking of using Lucid Dreaming to try things I've always wanted to, but am afraid of, before actually performing them in real life. Is LDing a reliable way to get the experience? Does it take away from the value of the incident or is it the same/better in real life? Let me know your personal experience.

What kind of experiences are you looking to practice?

I don't think that doing something in a lucid dream takes from the value of something, especially if it is something you have never done before. I have been able to practice playing musical instruments and performing before in a few lucid dreams, and although it was amazing when I was able to do it, for me it doesn't beat the real thing.

Well I wouldn't memorize a speech this way. I mean you cannot read the paper and if you do you will get the wrong words for sure. But as for practicing say, flirting, it should work.
if you can read this then you are about to be punched

I do flatland bmx, wich some of you may or may not have heard of/seen.... anyways, there are plenty of really difficult tricks way beyond my skill level that ive done in dreams and then when i go back to riding my bike the tricks to seem to come to me with much less effort. its like putting your brain through the situation makes it more prepared for that specific kind of balance or something? but anyways these were non lucids when i did these and i dunno what you are practicing for, but this is just my experience.

I remember reading about efficiency of physical excercises in dreams yelding some good results. This same goes for skill training. Does anyone know any web site about that?

What kind of tasks are you thinking about? I don't think it'll take away from it and would be good experience for RL such as rehearshing or presenting a speech to a large crowd You could probably use LDs to get rid of any fears in your RL
