      Discomfort in LD

Hey guys. Long time lurker, first time poster. I was having an odd dream last night, so I did one of my rarely successful RCs and it worked. I haven't been lucid many times, so I was pretty jazzed. I looked around to see what I had to work with. All I saw was my garage and a mirror. I wasn't exactly enthused, but I figured I'd make the most of what I had and not risk losing the LD by adding new objects.

I looked into the mirror and instead of seeing my reflection, I saw my back. I know that objects behave differently in lucid dreams, so I rolled with it. Looking at my back, I decided to try to change my body, so I started imagining bulking up and getting taller. It worked, and pretty soon I had the ridiculous physique of a bodybuilder. This isn't exactly what I wanted out of my most vivid LD yet, but it was fun and funny, and I was having a ball.

After a few seconds though, I started to feel a lot of pressure on my abdomen. I'm a big fatty, so when I think of having a small stomach and barrel chest, I associate it with the feeling I get sucking in my gut and puffing out my chest. The pressure grew and grew, not becoming painful, but definitely uncomfortable. As it progressed, I started to lose lucidity and I awoke, a bit breathless.

In the future, I don't really have any plans to become a hulking giant in my LDs, but if I'm constantly associating my in-dream activities with my physical limitations in the real world, is it going to interfere with my lucidity? Or am I just overthinking a minor, uncommon, isolated case? I'm a fledgling LDer with an anticipatory eye on the future and I'd really rather not be bogged down with doubt about my ability. If anyone could give me advice or dispell my self-inflicted illusions of failure, it would be much appreciated.

I'd say your over thinking it.. Next time just try something different and you will be fine.
