Dream Recall on a Busy Schedule

Okay, there's probably a billion and one threads on this subject, but I'm heading out the door can't look right now.

Basically, my deal is - I get woken up by my family fairly early each morning, which, of course, causes me to move around and open my eyes. I usually can't recall any dreams after that. Sometimes, if I lay still again, I can remember bits and pieces. But, my family instantly assumes that I've gone back to sleep and try to wake me up again...basically it's get up and go go GO at my house.

Any suggestions as to how I can work on dream recall even when my family is forcing me awake and shoving me out the door in the morning?

You could make the time at which you go to bed earlier, say by an hour, and set your alarm (if you use one) 1 hour earlier. This way, when your family comes to wake you up, you've been awake for an hour, and have probably recalled most of your dreams. I don't know if this is possible for your situation, but it's just a suggestion.

You could also try using a simple DO NOT DISTURB on the door. Again, I don't know anything about your situation so I can only guess if this will work.

      Hope this helps,

Thanks for the suggestions...the thing is, I have to get up. And it's usually five AM when I get up.

So I can't use the sign on the door thing. And the reason I can't go to bed earlier is...well, there's a lot of kids at my house...a lot of kids...and they're loud...

It's rather difficult for me to sleep in complete silence, I find it impossible with a bunch of noise. Tonight, I was excited because I'm home alone, but my mom found out she has a meeting or something in the morning and she's bringing all the kids back tonight...oh boy...and of course, they'll wanna watch a movie or something before bed. So it'll be about 1 in the morning before I get to sleep.

Though tommorow, I don't have to get up until pretty late, so I can probably sleep all I want Hopefully I can work on dream recall then.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I appreiciate it.

Can you sleep with earplugs? I found that helpful back when my cat kept keeping me awake, the only problem was that I had to have the alarm right next to my head instead of across the room, and thus risked switching it off before actually waking up.

I can have some really severe sleep problems occasionally, and to keep from completely ruining my schedule I have to be woken up, and often have to rush to get ready and out the door for school. I usually keep a backup notebook with my laptop next to my bed (when I have time, and wake up naturally, I use the laptop), to write out the dream on the ride to school and until the first class, but if anyone has ideas for how to recall the dream more quickly, or at least keep the right sort of focus after having to get up in a hurry, I too would appreciate it.

I may have to try earplugs. Oh, and I like your L avatar...but I'm a total Kira supporter! MUHAHAHAHA! lol...

And you're right. My question really is on "how to keep the right sort of focus after having to get up in a hurry". So please, if you reply to this thread, just send some suggestions our way Thanks.
