      I cant feel my arm!

Yesterday during an quite good WILD session i had to abort cause i began to loose my feelings in my arm, that lay upon my stomach, since i lay on my back. It didnt just feel like deep relaxsion, but more like bloodloss in my arms. This reminded my on the few times ive slept on my side, with the one arm deeply put under the pillow to support the head or something(mmmm good sleep), and then to wake up the day after without any feeling in the arm whatsoever! It was like the arm wasnt mine at all.. it just dangled there lifeless! The first time i was frighten to death "MY ARM! ITS DEAD". But then i felt the blood, i guess, go back to it again and the arm got cold and chilly, followed by slowly sensation recap in the arm, before i could begin to use it again.

So my question is. Is this really a bloodless problem where the blod cant get into the arm cause of its angel or that some veins are in pressure. Or is it simply just very deep local relaxtion where the paralysis has started/isnt over yet? Anyone know?

I think it's just a blood-less problem. I had something similar recently, and that was because I had slept on my arm. It feels really strange...just like you said.

I always sleep on my side, and if I fall back asleep after waking up in the morning, I usually end up sleeping on my arm. This causes the exact feeling you described, but feeling comes back fully within less than 2 minutes. The problem definitely has to do with blood delivery, and probably won't cause any harm unless it gets extreme. Your arm would probably turn colors first, though.

I can't really figure out what would be causing it, though. Unless there is a lot of pressure somewhere along the inner side of your arms when sleep, I can't see why the blood circulation would be affected.

Yes its strange. I lay on my back with my hands on my stomach causing a little tiny angle upwards for my hands. I cant see why the blood cant streem that little way upwards from elbow to hands, when all day long blood is fighting its way trough the body. Well nothing to do but to obey the strange laws of physics

Hey I get this all the time.

I think that when you lie on your back with your arms on your stomach, vains in your elbows are being blocked. Of course, it's the arteries that supply the blood, but maybe if the veins are blocked then the arteries cant push any blood through.

One time I got out of bed without noticing my arm was numb and I tried to turn my light on with the arm... it ended up flinging around and knocking the light clean off my bedside table.

      I get this as well.

I read awhile back that it is the pinching off of nerve communication between the extremity and the brain. I looked it up and How Stuff Works came up with a better explaination.

The pressure squeezes nerve pathways so that the nerves can't transmit electrochemical impulses properly. Nerve impulses carry sensation information from nerve endings in the body to the brain, as well as instructions from the brain to the parts of the body. When you interfere with this transfer by squeezing the nerve pathways, you don't have full feeling in that body part, and your brain has trouble telling the body part what to do.

This pressure can also squeeze arteries, stopping them from carrying nutrients to body cells. Without these nutrients, the nerve cells may behave abnormally, which can further interfere with communicating bodily sensations. [/b]
It seems that it is a combination of both blood loss and nerve impulses being blocked, although I believe it is mostly the nerves that cause the absolute loss of communcation - not the blood.

I dont know if im being morbid but i really enjoy the feeling of not having any feeling in my arm when i wake up, i just watch my arm dangle for a few moments, scared sh*tless and then when the blood comes back into my arm, i start moving my fingers again, the sensation is amazing! Im also a fan of Pins and Needles

Can you damage your body at all by doing this? If you sleep with your arm under you or whatever and it falls asleep does that cause any damge or is it safe? I never heard of anything but I was just wondering if you kept your nerves pinched long enuff does anything stop working?

Okey so its the blood. Good to know

I have no idea if the arm is taking damage if you sleep on it to long, but if i wake up from hyper sleep, on a spacecraft after lying on my arm for 8 months, and i find out my arm has rotten away... im suing the space manufactors!!
