      Lucid, but not quite "myself"

Alright, I'm new to lucid dreaming and I haven't yet had what I consider to be a "true" LD. So far, I've been lucid three times (started a month ago). But the thing is, while I realize that I'm in a dream, I still remain in my "sleep personality" rather than my lucid, waking personality. If you know what I mean, you know it is really annoying - you say "woohoo, lucid, do whatever I want!", and then you're still the dumb guy you are in your dreams (not dumb, but, you know, non-lucid). It keeps you from actually doing the stuff you want to do, like practicing dream control.

Do any of you have any tips, or any links to tutorials?

      hello nix_lb!
we are discussing that topic here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=81478
I know what you are talking about.
It happened to me, a LOT! LOT!
what I supposse is the answer is the way we do the Reality Check's.
Maybe you must increase your awareness when doing Reality Checks, so that you become truly lucid.
      just wait.

      bye!

      Whoa, hold on here.

Definition of a lucid dream: A dream in which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. That is it.

There are no varying levels of lucidity. It's just a matter of "yes, I was lucid", or "no, I was not lucid".

When others say that they were "half lucid" or similar, they REALLY mean that the dream was not that vivid, or they had poor control, etc. All of these aspects can be controlled once we are lucid.
Success comes to those who are not afraid of failing.

let's see, start all over again.
just see the definition, that's a lucid dream.
you must question yourself : "Was I aware that I was dreaming?"
      and answer yourself.

      so, what do you think?

What is your process for doing reality checks? Are you really sincirely asking yourself if you are dreaming or not, or are you just going through the motions? If it's not the first, you won't really become lucid - trust me, I've missed lucidity this way.

I don't seem to do reality checks, I just realize "Hey, I'm dreaming!". So they were mostly luck-based.

Try to reality check when you realize you are dreaming. Don't get carried away. Instead, focus your mind and concentrate on the environment around you. Rub your hands and try to take in as much as possible around you. You can also yell: CLARITY! CLARITY! and chances are that the dream will be more clear and vivid.

it's probably that they are dreams of "dreaming of being lucid"
mmmm...the point is that you must make a direct connection between you discovering you are dreaming and the reality check...
if you do a RC, do it very aware.
if you say "hey I'm dreaming" try autosuggestion to remember that everytime you "semi-realize" that you are dreaming, you RC...

      bye!

Holy crap guys, first RC-induced LD last night!

This lucid dream was actually VERY clear. I'm saying, I actually had my waking personality! It was so FUCKING sweet!

So I'm walking around in the city with my friend, and then I had the strange "Could this be a dream?" feeling. So I RC'd by putting a finger through my hand. It WORKED! Although I must say, it was a very awkward feeling . Then I tried holding my nose and breathing, also worked! So I got pretty excited, didn't wake up from it though. I tried flying around for the first time as "myself", it was SWEET!

Thanks man, I was so excited when I woke up. First truly lucid dream!

Also yeah, I think "dreaming of being lucid" is the term I was looking for, guess that's what those 3 semi-lucid dreams were.
