      First time

last night I think I had a very brief lucid dream. In my dream I was in a field and all of a sudden realized I was dreaming, upon my realization I suddenly felt overwhelmed and then woke up into another dream in which I didn't realize I was dreaming anymore.

Does this sound like it could have been a lucid dream, or is waking up into another dream common among lucid dreams?

It sounds like the first part of your dream was a lucid dream. So for that, congratz . Now as for the "waking up into a dream" bit...I'm not entirely sure if what you are saying is that you had a false awakening or merely dreamt you were dreaming within a dream. If it's the latter, i've had plenty of those kinds of dreams and I would go out on a limb to say that they're probably fairly common within the lucid dreaming community. If that isn't what you were referring to, would you mind elaborating a bit more?

I'm not entirely sure what to call it, but it happened like this: the dream started in the field where I suddenly realized that I was dreaming. Then after getting the weird overwhelming feeling I went directly into another dream (or the same dream) in which I had just woken up and no longer realized I was dreaming. So in a sense my dream fooled me out of my own lucidity. I went around telling my family about how I had a lucid dream in the remainder of the dream, then woke up.

I know what you mean, happened in my first LD. It's like a FA but you don't end up in your bed but in some other place and situation. I think that may have been what this is.
