      Too much excitement!

Alright, so I was so close to getting my first lucid last night!

I was trying to WILD and it was going really good. When I felt the first feeling of SP I got too excited and I felt my heart beating really fast, then the feeling stopped! This happened once more.

What are some ways I can stay calm and not freak out?

my first LD that happened. What I did the second time is rub my hands and stabalize the dream and not think about the dream. just know its a dream. I find whenever I begin to think about wowwww this is a dream, I begin to feel my body back at home, but I just fly and begin to interact with the dream world. Don't spend to much time in awe of the dream world. Start doing stuff. I even strectch my "dream" mucels to get ready. Stimulate all your dream senses while interacting with the dream.

Also once i become lucid I don't smile, I know it sounds stupid but the first time I woke up with all the excitment and began to smile then I felt my real body smiling lol and woke up. GOOD LUCK!

I wasn't in a dream. I am talking about before going into SP. I get too excited and then I can't continue with SP.
      Any suggestions?

There isn't really any quick "get rich quick" kind of scheme you can use. It just takes patience, practice, and devotion. I still find it hard to stay calm, and usually wake from lucids prematurely solely because I started thinking too much. You've just got to go with the flow, and stop thinking.

It's a difficult balance, for sure. You must develop a sort of laid-back attitude, kinda like, "Well, I'm dreaming. Great. I think I'll fly now." However, you must be careful of being too aloof, as this will detract from your focus and may cause you to lose lucidity.

Don't get too discouraged that you broke out of the SP. These first few times are almost always a little startling/exciting, so it's not unusual to be unable to get the full WILD in the first attempts.

The best way to really get over the excitement is simply more practice and experience in just feeling the SP hit. But in the meantime, when you get SP, just remember to breathe deeply, and see if you can focus on something else, for example background noise like a fan, or flashes of imagery in your head, and above all, keep reminding yourself that SP is never harmful, it just feels really weird.

I don't think you understand the question. I am talking about SP, not a dream. I haven't been in a lucid dream yet, so I couldn't have experienced any excitement in a LD.

And thank you for the answer Naiya.

I'd like to add on to Naiya's great answer a phrase that has helped me throughout my journey, "Do not be amazed." If you are not amazed, and you accept things, then you won't get too excited, and end SP, or your lucid dreams.
