      What is Lucid Dreaming

      FORUM MEMBERS

I am going to be setting up a meeting at a local coffee shop concerning Lucid Dreaming. I am a little apprehensive on explaining the initial concept of lucid dreaming itself.

So I am asking you IN YOUR OWN WORDS, to describe what Lucid dreaming is. Just as if some one were to simply ask you . ............ What is Lucid Dreaming?

Being aware that you are dreaming within a dream. This is usually accompained by you being able to exercise control over your dreams and, to cut a long story short, do anything you want in them.

The term "lucid" itself generally refers to "clarity or clearness of thought." It generally can also mean "a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously."

The term "lucid dream" was coined by Frederik van Eeden when he was exploring and recording several different types of dreams - one type which he called a lucid dream - generally meaning something like the simultaneous realization of the sleeping and dreaming body or the perception of the truth that you are dreaming.

The basic "modern" or "dumbed-down" definition of lucid dreaming is nothing more than becoming aware that you are dreaming, while you are dreaming. Things like control, remembering stuff from "waking life," etc are not required to be "lucid" by definition, but are generally present to some extent by the nature of what being "lucid" is.

That is great. Basically everyone pretty much said the same thing just in differant dialog. I like Kaniaz's. Short & to the Point, yet leaving nothing out.

Please more input (In Your own words)
