      Was this lucid dream?

i'm not sure if a dream i had last night was a lucid dream or not, as it was a dream within a dream.it started out after i had come back from the beach in my dream and went to bed, then I fell asleep in the dream and was I was then on a street which had alot of derilict buildings in it. I was with a friend who was talking too and he told me to lucid dream. he then walked up to a building and made a portal out of thin air. he told me he would go through it and i should follow, he stepped through and the portal started to close. I realised and imagined that it would get bigger and it did. Then we was placed in a cave and stated to walk through, when it collapsed. However, without chosing to or thinking about it, the rocks past through me like a knife through butter. Then in the dream i wanted to cave to repair and imagined it, but instead of fixing, i teleported to a barn where a giant robot was there. I tried to make it shrink but i couldn't and woke up not only in the dream, but in real life and found myself on my bed.Was this a lucid dream or just a normal dream?

It's kind a hard to say since the definition is different from person to person. Personally, I don't think it was unless you knew it was a dream at some point during all of it. I've had dreams where I wasn't lucid but was still able to control things without realizing it.

Lucid Dream: A dream in which you realize you are dreaming.

You could be in a classroom learning about lucid dreaming or you could have friends talking about it in your dream, whatever. It doesn't matter. If you did not, at any point of the dream, think, "hey, I am dreaming" or "am I dreaming?" or any variation on the two, then no, it was not a lucid dream. You need to know you are dreaming.
